This is an excellent book, based on the author's lifetime of study, teaching and practice in classical architecture distilled into a thorough yet accessible work that is equally applicable to professionals and interested readers alike. I heard Steven Semes give a lecture on this book; the audience was engaged by his methodology that gives us a vocabulary and an ordered approach for understanding classical space and volume. Semes suggests, for instance, that the architects of classical buildings envisioned the void of space as a tangible solid, and that we should look at interior space from that same viewpoint.
