Back to the beginning
With all the post-After-The-Fall stories IDW has put out, it makes a change to go back and revisit Angel in his early comic book days. Like the original Buffy Dark Horse comics, these are stand-alone non-canon stories that don't take too many risks or liberties, but they're fun and its always good to hear that distinctive Cordelia dialogue. It's also amusing, looking back, to see the chaos caused by trying to write a continuing comic series months in advance of plot notes when one of the three main characters dies mid season. Poor Doyle disappears rather abruptly midway through one of the stories, and its only a couple of stories later that a certain rogue demon hunter appears to regain continuity. As with the Dark Horse Buffy Omnibuses, this is a value for money collection and you get a lot of stories that are good fun, but don't expect a volume two as the obvious difficulties with keeping up with Angel continuity meant that it became just too hard to write comics with Angel in until the series ended and they could begin anew - which, as we all know, they did and then some.

Algo machacado.
Está algo estropeado, eso pasa por ser las últimas unidades.Es un buen complemento a los 7 omnibus de Buffy Cazavampiros que sacó Norma Editorial, que ya podría haber sacado, igual que el quinto omnibus de Indiana Jones.

Had such a great time reading this
Had such a great time reading this. Although it isn't considered 'canon', I treated it more as an animated series that take the show from another angle, while implimenting and working alongside canon events. The artwork varies well and the stories get better and better each issue. Absolutely LOVED it! Some of the story and dialogue didn't match the characters at times, and some decisions that Angel made in the comics didn't feel like the ones he would make in the show. However, I liked that it was different. Like I said, it took the show from a new angle and made it seemed like fun, animated side stories. Such a great read, for sure will read multiple times.5 out of 5 stars for sure.

One story from Joss Whedon is epic, other stories are "good enough".
One story from Joss Whedon is epic, emotional and well crafted with plot twists. Other than that, most of this Omnibus is "good enough". Characters are Angel-like but stories are very simple. All in all - nice reading with one great story from Joss.My rating for individual stories:3/5 Surrogates3/5 The Chageling Wife3/5 Earthly possessions3/5 Hunting ground3/5 Beneath the surface3/5 Strange bedfellows2/5 Vermin3/5 Little girl lost3/5 Cordelia3/5 Point of order4/5 Angel (from Scott Allie - editor)5/5 Long night's journey (from Joss Whedon)
