Product Description Welcome to the Hero Factory. A place where the most advanced and skilled Heroes in the universe are built to serve one function – saving the world from evil. Alpha team leader Stormer is the best and toughest Hero at the Hero Factory. It helps that he has Bulk and Stringer on his team, but he is driven by something deep inside of him. Years ago, when he was still just a Rookie, he was on a dangerous mission. Their leader was wounded and it was up to Stormer and his fellow Rookie, Von Ness, to save the city. But Von Ness deserted him, and Stormer was forced to go into battle alone. He succeeded that day, just like he has on every mission since then, but he still carries around the feeling that something is left unfinished. A new Rookie team has been assigned to complete their training with Stormer and his crew. Furno looks to be the best Rookie the Factory has seen since Stormer was a Rookie himself. He takes his position as a Hero in training very seriously and yearns for Stormer’s approval, and will push himself to do whatever it takes to get it. He’s joined by fellow Rookies Breez and Surge, as they try to prove to Stormer and each other why they are ready to become true Heroes. As the six Heroes begin to work together on their missions, they start to realize that the bad guys they are fighting are working for someone. Someone from Stormer’s past, with an evil agenda to take down the Hero Factory and Stormer himself. .com The young fans of LEGO's Hero Factory line of toys and its four-episode animated miniseries are most likely to be the most responsive audience for this feature-length adventure that stars the line's robot fighters. The plot is basic--grown-up hero Stormer (voiced by John Schneider), who was betrayed by his partner during a mission in his rookie days, now leads a team of fresh metallic faces, including Furno (Eric Christian Olson), who naturally reminds the veteran of himself. When the team faces a new set of enemies, Stormer discovers that the enemy is someone from his past. A mix of video game pacing and action and well-worn military movie clichés, Rise of the Rookies will feel fresh and exciting to youthful viewers who are tuning in for the robot-on-robot mayhem; all others will find the frenetic pace, leaden dialogue, and mawkish emphasis on teamwork and friendship (the film's raison d'être is action, pure and simple) tiresome. The bonus short, LEGO Atlantis, is a cheerier mix of tongue-in-cheek humor and action featuring the toy line's Deep Sea Salvage Crew in search of the fabled city and encountering monsters and undersea warriors. --Paul Gaita

Hero Factory is Here!
i was (and still am) a huge Bionicle fan, but I have to say this is a really great film. It is a perfect introduction into this world - it's very accessible for younger kids and there's definitely enough action and awesome looking animation for older kids. The story is not incredibly complicated, so you don't have to be an expert on the 'mythology' to watch this movie - you can just put it in and go. I'm sure we'll get to learn more about the origin of the Hero Factory and other characters as time goes by and LEGO begins to tell us more backstory, but this is a ton of fun from start to finish. The animation looks fantastic and you can tell there has been a lot of effort put into this movie, it's not just one of those junky DVD movies that other toy companies put out just to sell toys. This is a first class production with a good story, really fun characters that is totally worth watching. Also, it's got a great cast, John Schneider (Bo Duke!), Henry Winkler (the Fonz!), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker!) and Malcolm McDowell!!!! Kudos to LEGO for keeping the quality bar so high in its productions (Bionicle, Clutch Powers and Atlantis - which is included as a bonus on the DVD!).

These are GREAT!
My wife and I had the pleasure of keeping our 5 yr old Grandson for 11 days and He(and I)watched this LEGO Hero Bot movie 2-4 times a day. He loved it and so did I. It has really goog writing for the genre and visuallyand action wise is perfect. We rented it from the library by chance, but I ordered him this one and the one other available as soon as he was going to leave to take to him as surprises. He is a really good athlete for his age and quite smart. The point is , these are not "dumbed"down. Great price and value and perfect for 4-10 yr old boys and girls who are into this type movie. I am a Pediatrician and nothing you would not want your child or grandchild to see.

good to go
This was a good movie, the kids enjoyed it an all ages can watch it. It was bought as a gift and ended up being used on multiple occasions during gatherings with kids, the kids tend to watch this and use their indignation to act it out later so it also helps them to exercise. I recommend the lego movie series and would by again in the future if the need arise.

My children love this movie!
I bought this for my son's 8th birthday. He has all the Hero Factory robots, and I knew he would love this movie. I was not wrong. I believe this is the Nicktoons miniseries from Fall 2010. We did not catch it on TV, so I am glad that LEGO put it out on video. This has been watched at least 4 times in the week that my son has had it. The LEGO Atlantis short movie has probably been watched 10 times. Overall, this movie is a hit, and I highly recommend it.

This movie was just bad. The way the bionicles moved was so unnatural
This movie was just bad. The way the bionicles moved was so unnatural. The body parts of them moved like skin and not plastic pieces. It would have passed for an okay film if the animation style was anything like the lego movie as a stop motion mixed with cgi. The plot was so unbearable i almost shot myself.
