We've been using the bottle style for years and the dogs don't want to drink out of them when they get debris from their whiskers settling in the bottom of the bowl. The base takes up a lot of room in the dw and the bottle needs special attention. I have an extra base bc I tried to wash the bottle in the dw. We still have 4 that we use for our 3 small pups, but we added two of these and they're so much easier to work with. All parts have survived the dw, but not sure if that's a guarantee. Even put one outside under an eave for their convenience.

Worked fantastic. Took a little bit for him to get used to it. Now we don’t need the towel around the bowl to soak up the water.

This dish has helped keep my floors dry but better yet it has helped one of my pups who always coughed so much after drinking quit completely. She is drinking more which is a good thing. Just wish the top ring to hold the float was a rubber vs rigid plastic as I'm afraid it will break over time.

My puppy mill rescue had no idea how to drink out of a bowl when we first adopted her. She had been used to drinking out of a tube like rabbits do so would place her entire face into the bowl coming out soaking wet. So frustrating since we were trying to make her new life as wonderful as possible. After going through 3 other types of bowls my groomer recommended this product and what a life changer it’s been. She easily drinks now and doesn’t get her face all wet. My only question is if these come in smaller versions as she is a tiny breed and the bowl is almost too big for her. But definitely a game changer that I would recommend to all dog lovers.

I bought this bowl to solve 2 problems.1) To keep my dogs from drinking too fast.2) To keep my kitchen from getting soaked from water pouring out of theirs mouths.To be fair to LumoLeaf, it did solve those 2 problems. In fact it's really great in that aspect...BUT....... this bowl is made of plastic and it promotes bacteria and rotting. If I didn't take it apart and wash it with dish soap at least every other night, it rotted. And when I say rotted, it seriously smelled horrible and rotten. Now I do have 2 large dogs that drink a lot and the bowl is by a patio door and sits in the sun.(the sunlight may play a roll). I tried rinsing it with hot water daily without taking it apart and that didn't really do the trick. The problem with this bowl is that when dogs lick the floater to get water, their saliva and bacteria get underneath the floater. This is where the dreaded slime "biofilm" collects. In a normal water bowl this slime is more dispersed and aerated. (I understand that all bowls should be washed regularly because of biofilm). Anyway it collects there and rots. This bowl is also not easy to wash which leads us to the next problem. The floater is hard to take apart and put back together. And it definitely needs to be taken apart to clean because no matter how well you put it back together, water gets inside (and that's gross). Maybe this bowl would work better if it were stainless steel and the floater was one piece that couldn't get water inside. While this bowl did solve my problems it became too much of a hassle and possible health risk to my dogs. I purchased a Torus water bowl with a filter to replace it. Fingers crossed that bowl actually works for me.
