aFe Power Magnum FORCE 54-10422 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Performance Intake System (Oiled, 5-Layer Filter), Black

Already having an aftermarket cold air intake for my 2001 Jeep XJ with the 4.0 Powertech I6, I was looking for something that fit better under the hood. Since I was using a throttle body spacer finding something that fit without damaging the hood or leaving a gap at the throttle body was important, as the Rock-It parts air intake I was previously using had done both. After looking extensively through the options out there, I decided to go with the aFe unit. What a great decision. Not only does this system allow the use of a throttle body spacer, but it fit perfectly without any modification. Installation was extremely easy (perhaps because the factory air box was already removed.) The filter is massive, at least double the size of the Rock-It filter and side by side maybe 50% larger than the K&N version. Power is noticeable, sound is great. Acceleration feels somewhat less aggressive than the Rock-It intake, but the Jeep gets to speed just as fast, so I suppose it's just less jumpy. RPM at speed is lower and I have had no problems keeping speed on big inclines. Great punch when needed, passing on the highway is a breeze. Overall, having several XJs around with different cold air intakes, this one takes the cake. I would have no problem recommending it to any of my Jeep friends.

Afe does not tell you on Amazon it will not work on Xj cherokee with abs brakes! When you go to return it you are stuck paying shipping! That is bs. Get this on Amazon afe says nothing about not working with abs brakes. On the instructions with this product it also says nothing about not working with abs brakes! Once I tried to put this together I found out the hard way it won’t work! I went to afe website and it says in a small print next to the item will not work with abs. What good is this to people who buys this product on Amazon! I’m pissed off because I lost $45 on shipping the product back to afe!

bought this for my xj. great product, does take awhile to kick in and feel the power difference. It turns my 32s on stock gears pretty well. This is not a waste of money. great buy!

Bought this along with an Airaid throttle body spacer for my 98' Jeep Cherokee 4.0L and I love it so far. I reviewed this intake system on quite a few sites and heard this was the best (even over K&N) for my 98' jeep. So far I would agree! The install time was minimal and it fits under the hood even with the 1" throttle body spacer. Haven't noticed any increase in MPGs since I just installed it and haven't ran a full tank yet but I have noticed the increase in torque as well as the sound. Thought this would sound a little more deeper and louder but still sounds great. I feel that if I'm constantly not putting my foot through the floorboard I will see an increase of MPGs! One thing I did notice with the package is that it only came with one hose clamp for the breather tube other than that everything was there!

I am sure that this intake works great, but unfortunately it does not mention that it does not work with ABS equipped vehicles. Nor does aFe mention that the intake that does work on ABS vehicles is not CARB certified, therefore cannot be run on a California vehicle. It looks like I will now have to ditch my ABS to get this installed, we'll see how this thing performs after I get the clearance issues solved.

Intake fits reasonably well but some of the hardware is less than ideal. The hose clamps that are used to secure the intake tube to the throttle body are excessively long and if not positioned correctly could get stuck on the throttle linkage causing it to get stuck open. The breather tube from the valve cover is smaller in diameter that the supplied hose and does not seal even with the the supplied clamp due to the large diameter difference. I ended up using smaller hose that I had on hand and some of the original breather hose end to make the connection to the intake tube. Its not pretty but it works. The metal shield pressed up against the wiring harness where it passes by the washer bottle fill cap on my 2000 XJ. I ended up using some wire loom to keep the edge from rubbing the harness.The filter comes pre-oiled with the kit but doesn't include any of the cleaner or oil for future cleanings.Overall its not a bad kit but it should be about $50 cheaper or atleast include the cleaner and oil and some better instructions.It does have the CARB approval for use in CA.

This item was exactly as advertised looks great and sounds great! The company has fixed all the problems in the past reviews and was a direct bolt with no problems. I'm happy getting what I pay for! Improved throttle response and I can tell the I6 is breathing better especially since I also added a Banks torque tube header and Monster Exhaust now I'm ripping throughout the gears, 5 stars!

Do not listen to anyone, who says "Cold Air Intakes" are a waste of money! I have never spun my tires on my XJ so much! And the sound is awesome! I always had this CAI on the back-burner, but I could never justify the cost ($230+). Once the AFE dropped below $200, I jumped on it. I am so happy I did. Simple install, except I broke off the welded bolts on the Jeep. I finished breaking the welds underneath and used some new hex bolts to finish the install. 45 minutes + or - to install.
