Epson Expression Premium XP-7100 Print/Scan/Copy Wi-Fi Colour Printer

I needed a printer that prints directly to CD/DVD’s. This printer does the job outstandingly! As well as that, the general print quality, design and functionality are all absolutely superb for a home office environment. I used Hewlett Packard home office printers for decades; however, because HP doesn’t offer a printer that prints directly to CD (not to mention their unknowledgeable and; therefore, useless customer service), I am now an Epson user, and (because of the quality of this printer), will be for the foreseeable future! I strongly recommend checking out a You Tube video review before purchasing so that you can identify some of the quirks, but they weren’t deal breakers for me, just useful tips.

I have given this model 4 stars, as it not as good a build quality, as my old epson 8450 ( it was built back in the day when they were hard wearing). Fortunately I wont be moving it around much from its present location. It is decent value for money, as you can purchase the eco ink cartridges if you are printing a good amount of photos. Prints well, is more compact than my old model, and its a wifi model, which was easy to set up and use

I've used this machine now for several years and never ever had a problem - even resetting it after the built-in default 'end of life ' setting these are sold with. All the functions work extremely well. Compatible cartridges at a fraction of Epson's costs are readily available, and absolutely without any diminution in print quality.

So far, I am very pleased with this printer. It is very compact but actually does more than my previous large multi-function printer. I was pleased, finally, to see that Epson has dropped the fax (who needs them nowadays). I really like the fact that it has two different size trays - so you can print on A4 and photos/cards. It also has a rear sheet feeder, so if you have headed paper, or even an envelope, that can be used here. Scanning/copying are very straightforward. The setting up is very straightforward - I have it connected both by USB and WiFi and both work brilliantly.

3 star as cost of ink is extortionate. Very cheap feel to the unit. Does what it says but plastic fantastic..

This printer is very good and will do everything needed by a home printer / scanner really well. It produces good quality photos and black and white prints. It is a step up from the previous XP 640 I had and is fairly quick when printing documents. The set up is very easy if you use the online drivers and software from the genuine Epson website. One thing to take care with is if you use non-Epson cartridges. Epson has made recent firmware updates which prevent most third party cartridges working at all. If you buy this printer, do not make any firmware updates and block all such updates. Instructions how to do this are widely available on the web or YouTube. Updates to the software are fine and don't affect this. The XP 7100 is perfect for all home needs but Epson ink is expensive. Great if you use non-Epson ink.
