They are simple in construction , and with two pairs of fittings for the top sash you can fit one set to close the sash securely and one set to allow the sash to be open enough for air flow without the danger of someone gaining access or someone from inside falling out of the window. Unfortunately there are no instructions of what size of hole should be drilled into the sash wood where the fittings are to be fitted to. This is critical to the correct fitting into the sash . Too small a hole will cause the wood to split and too large a hole will render the fitting to be loose and the unit will fail in operation . As it is a brilliantly simply solution it is a shame that no instruction as to correct drill bit size was included ! It only takes a piece of paper instruction included to resolve the problem !!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What size drill bit is required to install these?**
A: you need 10mm for wood drill (even if they say 9mm), depth 13/14mm. To put the ferrule you need Allen key probably 6.5mm (much bigger than the allen key provided)

**Q: What length is the barrel on these sash stops? i.e. the brass barrel that protrudes once fitted.**
A: It protrudes 20mm and have a diameter of 15mm. It is screwed into the fitting in the window using an Allen key

**Q: How are these installed?  Will they fit into a plastic frame?**
A: Not suitable for plastic frames.

**Q: I drill the hole in the frame, then how do i screw it in? Or do i hammer the screw in?**
A: If I recall correctly you screw in the treaded receiver using an suitable Allan key that slots into it.

Theses fittings appear to be an excellent idea . They are simple in construction , and with two pairs of fittings for the top sash you can fit one set to close the sash securely and one set to allow the sash to be open enough for air flow without the danger of someone gaining access or someone from inside falling out of the window. Unfortunately there are no instructions of what size of hole should be drilled into the sash wood where the fittings are to be fitted to. This is critical to the correct fitting into the sash . I bought these to limit the amount the window could be opened rather than to stop it opening. With newly rebuilt sash windows, I didn't want to fit the limiters by trial and error and there are no instructions supplied, nor are there any on the manufacturer's website. I phoned Customer Service at the manufacturer and they were very helpful and sent through a diagram of how to fit and a pic of one fitted. There have been a number of other buyers who complained about the lack of instructions, so I have included the info that was sent to me. It would be so much easier if they were supplied with the units or even on the Amazon listing, hence 4 stars for a 5 star product. " The small threaded ferrule is fitted to the outer frame of the window by drilling a pilot hole and then screwing the ferrule into position. The hole should be drilled as close to the bottom inner sash as possible to keep the window completely shut for security. In addition, you may wish to fit an additional ferrule at approximately 75mm – 100mm above to allow for the window to be opened slightly for ventilation."
