Love this book. Convenient size and very well payed out.

This is FAR the best field guide for identifying the trees of New York City! Because so many of the trees in the city have been planted, rather than being native, the common trees are representatives from all over the world. This guide provides informative and entertaining anecdotes about each tree included, photos of specific trees within the city, and locations that each can be found in the 5 boroughs. There are also Tree Walks for each of the 5 boroughs, so that you can take an informed scavenger hunt to see examples of the trees in person - an excellent way to be learn to identify them on one's own. Also included is a list of the Great Trees of NYC - significant trees that are also worth an outing to locate and admire. The proportions of the book make it a convenient field guide as well as a comfortable read-at-home guide to study up for your next outing. Highly recommended. A nice gift too. I bought this book as part of a course I was taking and I actually really like it. It provides a lot of information about trees in NYC and is easy to use to identify trees you see.

This book sits on my coffee table as well. I just can't get enough of anything to do with New York. I will be going backmany more times if my health permits. I've borrowed many field guides ranging from flowers to birds to clouds. I wish the format of this guide was the standard. It is very easy to use. The information within is very helpful. If you are a NYC plein air artist I recommend you invest in this guide.
