Honey Elixir 4-Ounce

It is amazingly effective at controlling a little one's cough, even helps with cough variant asthma and keeps down the amount of other asthma medications we have to use. At this age, they can't take any cough medicine, so to find a food-based remedy is a real boon. It's just honey and glycerin, which is an organic vegetable product. OK I suppose just normal honey would do, but at 2:00 AM I am just not up to thinning it and cleaning up the mess. This consistency goes well in an oral syringe (but in the middle of the night you had best chase it with a drink of water to rinse off her teeth). Still won't work for babies less than 12 months old, due to the botchalism risk. :(

My 2-year old sometimes gets a recurring cough during the night, and I've found that this syrup usually works really well, to make his cough stop so he can go back to sleep until morning. We've also tried giving him just a teaspoon of plain honey, but this seems to work a lot better. It basically contains only honey, glycerin, vitamin C and zinc. I like the fact that I understand what the ingredients are and am not giving him a bunch of man-made chemicals that I can barely pronounce. Also, the Vitamin C and zinc are nice for helping to prevent and/or ease colds. I highly recommend this product. But be careful to not give it to any children under the age of one, due to potential allergic reactions to the honey.

It's true that this item is not a miracle drug that will 100% stop every kids cough. As with any other meds, some things work, some don't, its all trial and error. Most expensive is also not always the best. If you read the instructions carefully, it states to you need to give a dosage every couple of hours. This is not like nyquil or thereflu where it's only once every 4-6 hours. The honey coats and soothes the throat of your child.

Being made of honey I know that for my 2 month old there is little I can do for his cough. But his 2 older siblings (ages 4 and 2) can at least get a little reprieve from the dry hacking. It doesn't help the same way cough syrup does but it makes things a little better and soothes some of the discomfort. I would do straight watered down honey on occasion in a glass but this is quick and easy in the middle of the night.

no miracle for coughs. real honey prob would be just as good. kids liked the taste, but it didnt reduce cough.

For older kids (due to the honey)like my son who is 4, this is GREAT. It helps his dry cough and lets him sleep. What a great deal here on Amazon as well. Highly recommend!

Thank you Amazon for having this product! I have been having trouble finding it in the stores this cold season. My daughter is almost 3 and LOVES this stuff. Helps her sore and scratchy throat.

great taste. my toddlers want to drink it even when not sick. my oldest even pretends to cough so that I would give him some. does soothe soar throats and coughing
