Amazon Basic Care Omeprazole

I've been on Omeprazole for years per my Dr but I've been trying to wean myself off. I was down from 40mgs to 20mgs but there was no other dosage available. I tried every other day but that didn't work for me so I decided to purchase these and cut them in half. So far it's worked great! I've completed my first month and only had to take the full 20mgs once. This has been a great option for me. The taste is pretty good. They can leave an aftertaste but washes out easily with a beverage. The cost was better than other options as well. Overall I'm pleased.

I keep these in the house on standby for nights where i know im going to suffer. they work great and i love them.

Does what it’s supposed to!

After reading reviews on this product I was hesitant to buy it because my 8 year old has a lot of sensory issues with food and flavors. Many mentioned gritty texture and it having little balls in it. Well I ended up getting it because we can’t afford the compounded version anymore. I read the instructions and to my shock I don’t think many actually read the instructions. You are not suppose to chew it. So no wonder it had a gritty texture and tastes terrible. Your two choices are swallow it or let it dissolve on your tongue. I bribed him to give letting it dissolve on his tongue a try. It literally dissolved into nothing in 5 seconds. It was just gone. And it didn’t taste bad at all! So I’m here to tell you that if an 8 year old who literally only has a handful of safe foods he eats and has a lot of issues with textures and tastes, approves this medicine! And that says a lot. So I highly recommend this product! It fantastic! And to those complaining of the grit and the taste try letting it dissolve. Don’t chew it!

Taste ok

I love that these disintegrate because my husband with Alzheimer's can no longer swallow pills and these work great - for the most part. The problem with these is that over the years he has winnowed down his dose of omeprazole caplets to 1/2 of one caplet every other day, which is the minimal dose he needs to get the desired results. I find that these are impossible to cut in half. They pretty much crumble when cut with the blade on a bill cutter.

The Amazon Basic Care Omeprazole delayed release chewable tablets are comparable to other brand names for 1/2 the price. I could not tell the difference from this brand to the one I have used for years.

I ordered the strawberry flavor that dissolves in the mouth. The tablet dissolves quickly and the flavor is nice. The medicine seems to be in little bits suspended in the sweet pill so when it dissolves you have tiny pellets that are bitter if you crunch down on them. They are very small and are easy to wash away with a gulp of water. I don't like swallowing pills. These work much better for me than gel caps. My pharmacist told me that some insurances will cover this type of OTC drug if your doctor writes a prescription specifically for dissolvable tablets.
