When the product arrived, the box was torn, and was obviously a returned item. It did not work and something was rattling around inside the plastic case. The "something" was the motor! the two small screws which were supposed to hold the motor to the reduction transmission were nowhere to be found. There were many plastic shavings inside the gears, and both wires leading to the motor were broken. The case itself was badly designed as the entire weight of my fragile and expensive mirrored ball was supposed to be held by two VERY tiny (1mm?)screws seated only in plastic. As a professional DJ the thought that my Mirrored ball could come crashing down on a head was unsettling indeed! Before I bought this item I read the previous reviews, which were all bad, yet I bought it anyway. Why? Because I believed I could fix it if it had issues. Well, I did fix it, but here is what I had to do: Solder the motor to the transmission, solder new leads from the battery holder, throw away the switch and replace it with one from The Shack, use 4, 50 lb zip ties to reinforce the case to support my ball. Clean out the gears and lubricate the whole assembly. After all this, I actually have a working motor! Yay! The battery seems to last a long time so I am keeping it. If you enjoy the challenge of building a kit which is missing parts and has no instructions as well as the potential hazard of bodily injury if you build it wrong, then buy this item! I did. Whoo Hooo! ### ⭐ Junk *by N***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2008* Bought this along with a 12" Disco ball for our daughter for Christmas. While the Amazon delivery was, as always, right on time (actually early), the gearing for the motor was not in place when I took it out of the box (you could hear the gears rattle inside the motor housing just by handling the unit), the on/off switch was not not even affixed to the housing and the wiring connection cracked while trying to get the switch in place. Absolute garbage and not worth contacting the manufacturer for a replacement. Avoid at all costs unless you like throwing money in the garbage.
