Universal Handgun Sight Pusher Tool

So far I've used this sight pusher to swap out rear sights on a Sig P220, a Springfield XD, and a Glock 17. All were very easy to do, and MUCH easier than using a drift and a hammer, or even the Glock brand sight tool. The pusher is well built and sturdy. Simply apply a drop or two of your favorite gun oil to the rod the pusher block slides on and to each of the two side screws that push the block. The option to use either the 90-degree or the angled edge of the pusher for installation and removal is a plus and ensures you apply pressure horizontally and not at an angle when installing or removing the sights. The bottom plate that hold the slide in the "U" has two sets of holes so you can line up the pusher with the sight channel perfectly, regardless of how long a nose the slide has. There are also two adjustable nylon rods that come in from the side that prevent the slide from moving sideways. It can be a slight PITA to get everything lined up and secured, but the extra 30 seconds it takes is worth it. Overall a fantastic investment that I should have made sooner, and a very solid and well-made piece of kit. Highly recommend!

This tool is decent and did the job. I did have to use some creative engineering to make it work with my gun slides. One slide was too small for the opening. I had to use some shims to get it to fit tightly. The other sat too high and the pusher block wouldn't engage. I removed the sight cover plate to allow the slide to sit lower in the opening. It is very critical to make sure the slide is square and flat in the tool otherwise things are not going to work out well. If you have to apply "too much" force it is time to check the alignment and positioning of the slide in the tool. Once I figured out the specific extra adjustments I needed the tool worked fairly easily.

I have several pistols from different manufacturers and not wanting to get a separate tool for each, I bought this. I used it first on a Springfield XD 40 without a problem. I was removing a set of Truglo sights and replacing them with the XD factory sights. I was worried that the Truglo sight would bend, I had read of that happening on different forums. However everything went off without a hitch, if fact it was so easy I was surprised anyone had problems doing it. I would recommend you watch a couple of YouTube videos to make sure of how it works since no instructions are included. Also, I was careful to use heavy card stock to protect the barrel from scratches when tightening it into the block. Make sure the barrel is at right angles to the block. I thought I had it by eyeball until I stood it on end and had a little wobble. Just loosen the screws slightly so you can adjust the barrel and then retighten when it doesn't wobble. This way you're pushing exactly 90* to the barrel and prevents the sight from binding. Easy Peasy. Next, make sure of the direction the sights install from. On Sigs, they install from the left. So to remove the old sights I push from the right, and then push from the left to install. A little gun oil around the base of the sight help it slide once you get it moving. Align the block that moves the slide to the top of the barrel/base of the slight. And then apply slow, steady pressure. Don't crank it down, just slow and easy. You'll need to back off to check alignment, then resume as needed. There are other tools that do the same thing for over twice the price of this one and I was tempted to get it because of the rubber "feet" that hold the slide, but after getting and using this one I don't see the need to spend the extra money. This works great and will accept slides from different manufacturers. Don't pound out sights using a hammer and punch, use this tool and you're done in no time w/o damage to your pistols.

I needed to remove the front sit on my OEM Sig full size slide to install a Tac Dev F10 charging handle. I was able to seat the slide on this sight pusher snug and remove the front sight with ease; the metal used for the pusher is just strong enough to where it will not damage the slide. The sight pusher metal was slightly marred and bent but I prefer that over damage to my slide. Installation of the F10 was even easier, as once it “seated” to the marred spot on the sight pusher it slid right in. This is the one time I will say I’m glad the metal used for the product was just strong enough to do the job, but weak enough that my slide was not damaged.

Worked perfectly to get the rear sight off my Springfield XD and to then attach an optics mounting plate in its place. Solid tool, very strong, one hex key works every moving part on the tool. Once everything is locked down the slide doesn’t move around, and with a little effort the sight will slide out. For the price, even if you only use it once it is well worth not having to pay a gunsmith to do what now becomes a simple 10 minute job.

Not premium material, low quality, works ok, bent both lower holder pins and a push screw during rear sight removal

The Springfield XD-45 sights are notoriously difficult to remove. In hindsight, I should've purchased the more expensive sight pusher for about $75.00? I bought this one ($60) so here's how it went: after getting the top slide wrapped to protect the finish and all of the support pins situated to prevent travel, I set about cranking the slide block in order to push out the rear sights. The slide block is pushed with the included Allen bolt with the included Allen wrench. That failed to budge the sights with mere human strength turning the Allen wrench. I used an aluminum pipe over the Allen wrench to provide more leverage and so it did as I was able to crank it a few more turns until the Allen wrench snapped right at the elbow. I went to Lowes to buy a Hex Cap Screw (size 10 metric) to replace the Allen bolt. I was able to turn the new bolt with a longer and more beefy closed face wrench that will not snap. With the new bolt and wrench (plus rubber mallet whacking on the wrench), I was able to push the sight. Glory hallelujah. For the normal handgun with standard sights, this sight pusher will work great. It gives you a great steel frame and support pin mechanism in which to provide the necessary focused force. Apparently Springfield thinks its a good idea to heat shrink their sites so tight that an industrial pusher is needed to swap them.
