Test Automation using HP Unified Functional Testing: Explore latest version of QTP

I've been a QA Engineer for a while (black box) and this book has been a really great introduction into Automation testing using the latest version of UFT by HP. The author does a great job of laying things out step by step and includes many screenshots for accuracy going forward. I got stuck on an issue while working through the exercises in the book and emailed Mr. Garg for assistance. Needless to say he responded back right away and after several back and forth emails we were able to 'debug' the issue so to speak (User error in this case lol). He was very patient and thoughtful in his responses. If you're looking to learn about QA Automation, *this* is the book for you!

So much better than the usual training books that you get when taking QTP courses. Filled with lots of useful tips and techniques, making it a great reference book.

This book is satisfactory (though expensive) for someone new to QTP. It goes through the basics of QTP functions. However, it's in desparate need of an editor. All pages had many mistakes in grammar (most of which I could ignore). Sometimes though, the grammatical mistakes were so bad that I had difficulty following the steps. The cover pages show no indication that an editor was even used. In some ways, this book appears as if it were put together using a QTP trainer's own notes, with little effort in reviewing the final product. It's not a bad book, and I'm finding it useful, but I would not rate it 4 or 5 stars.

Worst book ever . They never returned my money.

This is an easy to understand practical book that gets you started or improves your skills right away. Simple high level explanations that provide the basics for the how and why for automation. Loads of on the job examples illustrating problems and solutions. Multiple screen shots. The only things that would be a nice to have are: better editing and larger screen shot images !

It is step by step instruction. It is not giving high level information. Good for beginner. I didn't find any complex example or real life scenario

Great book but technology develops so fast that I find youtube videos more practical than books.

I learned a few things, but I was expecting a lot more.

Very less automation technique coverage. Descriptive programming is too limited. Several Large graphic images. Seems very kiddish and totally unuseful for any experienced automation tester.

Hi, I am a test analyst (manual) and have an aspiration to progress into automation testing. This particular book (Test Automation using HP Unified Functional Testing) helped me a lot to understand the basics to start with. The book has screenshots for every details which in turn helped me to implement the theoretical knowledge into practical instantly. Language used is pretty easy to understand. This book is suitable for any beginner or user at advanced level!!

DOES NOT COVER HP SERVICETEST FEATURES! Just a warning to anyone buying the book for help with API testing in UFT - only GUI testing (i.e. QTP) is covered! I found this out far too late...

Its a nice book for beginners who are new to QTP and test automation. Realistic Examples with all explanations provided. Go for it !!

Pls don't buy this book, waste for Rs 490 , pls buy some other books.Very very narrow explanations.Overall absolute zero
