Q: can it really be a multi tool to cut branches, bushes, chop, saw and splitting wood? To only carry this to the woods?

Yes. I have used it for most of these tasks. It’s not the best machete in the world, but it’s also not expensive. The handle is not great and the blade doesn’t hold an edge as well as other high priced blades, but for the money, it’s pretty damn good.

Q: Does this take down thick plants around the house? Sturdy?

It will chop down some thick stuff with several swings, it's a heavy machete that does dent the edge of the blade easy. The handle is horrible! Hard plastic that will slip out your hands unless wearing gloves. If you're looking for the occasional plant chopping it's good, anything more go a head an spend some extra $$
