This is the best cleaning rod I've ever used. It is well made, quite durable and won't harm the rifling in the bore. Plastic-coated rods eventually lose their coating and can pick up grit and fouling particles, making your rod act like sandpaper. Uncoated stainless steel rods are death on your bore if they make contact with the rifling--which they almost surely will. This carbon fiber rod is impervious to solvents, doesn't become embedded with grit or anything else, and smoothly rotates so your patch or brush can following the twist of the rifling. A smaller diameter rod works fine for most of the larger calibers, e.g., you don't need a separate rod for each caliber. A .270 caliber rod, for example, works great in ..30 caliber rifle as well. Go ahead and get this rod--you won't regret it! And throw out those three-piece, joined rods unless you want to take one hunting for emergencies in the field.
