Great book!
Thoroughly enjoyed it. A quick read, yet great introduction to natural elements and glaze composition. Highly recommend, especially for the price. Good presentation and narration with wonderful pictures.

Extremely interesting book and beautifully presented.
Ms. Forrest presents the idea of learning about what makes up your environment and putting that knowledge to work by using local materials in your clay and glazes. The information she passes on is assembled in a straightforward manner and but is designed to get you thinking and experimenting with materials, more so than about an abundance of facts and figures.Much of what she discusses will undoubtedly be more use to those potters that have their own studios (and, therefore, have the ability to control their own processes and formulae) than those in a more cooperative or shared environment who may not participate in glaze mixing or firing.Yet, I believe that everyone would benefit from this book. The photography and her beautiful pots are stunning.

Smashing (!) Read...
Well worth it. One of the most captivating books on glazes that I have come to know. Well written, clear and straight forward approach to a subject that can otherwise be made to seem tedious, labor intensive and technically intimidating. That being said, I love crushing and melting things, but am less keen on taking notes...Thank you to Miranda Forrest for doing such a smashing (!) job of all three, and for sharing your years of hard work in such a clear and approachable fashion. I hope the folks at The New Ceramics keep up the good work...

Short, but inspiring
This was written by someone in the UK, so the plant names are things I've mostly never heard of, and a lot of the rock names are local as well. But, as a general outline of methods, its good. It's shorter than I expected. Not an encyclopedia, more of an inspiring introduction...
