OTTERBOX Defender Series Case and Holster for iPhone 5c - Retail Packaging - Black

While there are a few things I would improve on this case, I really haven't found a better option. I just received it a few days ago and installed it right away. I had previously been using a LifeProof NUUD.....which was a great case, but proved to not be so "life proof" and needed replacing after I dropped it a few too many times. That said, if I ever do need a waterproof case again, I may try another LifeProof. I was at first hesitant to purchase an Otterbox after seeing my wife's phone get destroyed after a routine drop. Unfortunately, I believe that she had purchased a counterfeit case as the quality of the two cases I purchased from Amazon were far better constructed. Pros: - Doesn't add too much bulk - Comes with a screen protector built-in (and it actually isn't too annoying to use! I sometimes forget that it is on.) This is a pro and a con for me. - It provides protection without muffling the mic. - The case is comprised of a front and back plastic chassis that is wrapped in a rubber outer covering. It is easy to grip and feels good in the hand. - Overall a classy design for our 5c which seems to have limited options compared to the iPhone 5/5S. Cons: - The screen protector has cut-outs for the selfie-cam and primary function button. I haven't experience it, but it looks like it could easily let dust, fuzz, and other debris get under the screen protector. While it is one of the better screen protectors I have experienced, I will likely remove it and replace it with a piece of tempered glass. - I don't like having to open up an access panel in order to switch the Ringer to and from silent. Not a deal breaker as I really like the rest of the case, but not my favorite design. Overall, I would recommend this case to my friends and family.

I had an OtterBox Defender on my iPhone 4S for 2+ years, just got an iPhone 5C, so I purchased a new one to go with it. The tradition continues - perfect fit and quality materials. It appears they've changed the outer cover slightly - it's a little less rubbery than the old one, a different feel. I got this OtterBox to protect my phone from the wear and tear of everyday use, to protect against the occasional drop, and to make the phone easier to hold/handle. In those areas, Otterbox performs remarkably well. Well worth the purchase price, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality case for the iPhone.

The Otterbox Defender is the only cell phone case that my family and I use. We've had it for the 4S, 5, 5C, 5S and soon to be, several of the 6's. The Defender is the best cell phone case I have ever had. It really works! It does its job and protects your phone exactly as described in the product description. I have dropped my phone countless times. Once I even dropped it from about 6 feet high on to concrete and nothing at all happened to my phone! Of course the hard plastic of the case broke. That's what it's designed to do though. The best way I can describe it is by comparing it to a bicycle helmet. Helmets are designed to absorb the force from an impact and disperse it away from your head and brain. The important stuff. So if you get into an accident, chances are your helmet will break. Well the same thing applies with the Otterbox. It absorbs the force of an impact and directs it away from the important stuff, the phone! Twice now I've had a major drop and have had the Defender do what it's supposed to do. I had to buy replacements and even though they aren't cheap that's far cheaper than buying a new phone! One thing I do not like about the Otterbox Defender is the plastic screen cover. Honestly, the first thing I do when I get a new case is pop out that plastic piece and buy a good screen protector to replace it. I tried using it with the 4S and I hated it! It was way too loose and I had to press down too hard on the letters to get them to respond. So now I just pop out the plastic and toss. I'm sure it helps with water protection and dust protection but I don't really have a problem with that. Another thing that at first was getting the hang of taking the case off the phone. Some cases are easier than others but some of them seem just impossible to get open! Hard enough in fact that I've had to get a screwdriver to try to make it easier. Like I said, I think that eventually you do get the hang of it because I haven't been having this problem lately. The last small complaint I have about the Defender is in regards to the soft plastic outer shell. After a while, it has a tendency to stretch out and become loose. Especially at the bottom where the charging port is. Maybe this is because that part of the case is being stretched out over and over again because of charging? All I know is it's happened to all of my cases as well as my kids cases. Bottom line, despite a few issues, the Defender is still my go to cell phone case. I would recommend it to a friend and in fact have on many occasions.

I recently purchased a iPhone 5c as my first SmartPhone. I did not purchase a case at the same time because I thought I could beat the pricing on Amazon.com and I did! I really like this case. It has a good feel, was easy enough for me to install, and has protected my phone very well already. I like that the auxiliary jack and the power charging jacks have covers that flip out. (Having fingernails, even though they are very short fingernails, helps open this.) These flaps allowed for some odd-shaped charging adapters to work with this case attached. I have not experienced any issues with this case and have had it for over 5 weeks. Some dirt/grime does get on your phone where there are openings (near the home button, near the top of the screen, near the auxiliary and power jack openings, etc.)

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I had an otter box for several years and they are the best phone protectors you can buy.

I bought the Otterbox for my husband and it was 1/2 the price I paid for mine in the ATT store so the value is great. I am happy with this purchase. The only thing I don't like about this series of Otterbox is that the protector shield doesn't completely seal in the front screen as it had done in other versions. There is a slight gap for the camera so dust etc can slip in and you have to take the phone out and clean the screen every so often. Overall I think it is the best choice for protecting the iPhone 5c at the moment and at this price well worth buying.

Fits great, and seems sturdy! I dropped my phone the other day and it was saved from damage. Phew! Works good so far!

Its an amazing product. Suddenly I don't feel anymore that I will accidentally break my high-investment iphone and regret not getting a case. If anything the only drawback is that its a bit clunky- reminds me of my cellphones from 7-10 years ago. The phone isn't, the cover makes it. But then practicality wins over looks!

As usual another quality product from Otterbox. Great protector that’s saved me countless times. Lifetime warranty is hassel free and good to have. Not overly big and bulky but still offers great protection.

I just got this case today to replace my old otterbox and its awesome. Comes brand spank-en new and only have to wait 2 - 3 days. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
