Making Leather Gear Paperback – January 18, 2012

This is a good beginners book for making leather gear. It's broken up into digestible sections and is written well. I haven't tried any of the patterns yet but I love that they come with the book.

What can I say? This book is written by someone with a great deal of experience in this area. Rather than torturing you with excessive verbosity, Daddy Wendell gets right to business, and tells you what you need to know.The book is mercifully thin, and has all the information you need to start making your own gear.As with everything, with experience will come... expertise. However, what Daddy Wendell relates is very accessible, even for the attention impaired.What you won't find is a collegiate textbook that takes a team of Yak to move from one place to another.What you will find is the nuts and bolts of how to get from looking at leather gear and buying it at ridiculous prices, to being able to make it for yourself for a fraction of the cost.Rather than detracting from a person's interest in leather goods, it will make you appreciate them more. I have found it most stimulating, and look forward to putting it to good use in the very near future.Daddy Wendell is someone who has been in the scene, well, for a quite a while, and has the experience and the gift to relate what he knows to the reader: a rare gift.

Found some great ideas. I wish the instructions and patterns were a little more concise. I had to YouTube video search for understanding wrapping.

Good pictures and easy explanations for a beginner. Looking forward to getting started. I'm headed to the leather store now!

Buying books online is always a gamble because there is no way to flip through to make sure you’re getting whats advertised.This is a low budget print job, for 20$ I would have expected better editing and a higher quality cardstock cover. Ive paid 10$ for books of the same quality. Now lets talk about the contents, or lack there of..The first 30 some pages are an introduction to leatherwork, for the beginner who’s never touched a piece of leather. The things I was looking to make are not in this book. There is no womens chest harness, no body harness (the reason I bought the book) no thigh cuffs, no corset harness, no spanking skirt, no opera gloves, the only collar is a simple poor design, there are no complex or impressive pieces what-so-ever. The items that are included there are homo-erotic and super basic, and completley lacking patterns for the half cocked paragraphs they wrote for each items construction. This is the worst instruction manual I have ever seen, and I served in the Army. In fact there is only 1 pattern included in the entire book, and thats for a strap on holder, something I have ZERO INTEREST in making. There are several pages dedicated to a single flogger, (the only striking tool covered in this book) and a lot of CBT stuff, which is nothing I would ever consider. I will be looking into returns on books, because this book isnt worth the ink they wasted printing it.

Not really what I was looking for nothing uncommon just basic builds that can be figured out on your own. Not enough restraints either.

This is a wonderful must have book for someone starting out in making leather gear, or a pro looking for some tips. The pictures and step by step approach gives you a basic platform to go and create your own personalized toys.

A really great beginner book just what I needed to get started! Thank you!
