Will these stay on in intense summer heat?

Currently have them on my truck for about 6 moths now... Average temp is about 95F.. They have not moved. So my answer is yes they will stay in place in intense heat.

If I bought the square-ish version, where is the best spot on sideview mirrors to attach? Bottom right corner, or elsewhere?

It will basically fit any mirror, not the best unit, moves around too easily.
