The post is much bigger than a standard earring... they are definitely piercing studs we use in the salon **Q: How easy are they to remove?** A: They lock into place. I like them for this fact (they feel more secure). But it can be a pain to remove them at times. **Q: What is the guage of the posts? Thanks** A: The post are larger in diameter than your standard ear studs. They are designed for piercing new holes. I would say .5mm. I had no problem inserting mine into existing holes except for one on each side. It was a little tight but after a couple days no problem. I have 5 holes on each ear.
