Could not ask for more!
It's been a week since I got this guitar. The first time I bought, the guitar was not packaged properly. The box was torn and the guitar itself had minor faults. The finish was not top notch and the output jack was faulty. But it was setup perfectly (intonation, truss rod, action). I replaced the guitar regardless and the second time around, everything was really good. The guitar was packaged really well (three layers) and I had no complaints at all. It was also setup perfectly. Note that it does not come with a lot of stuff. You get the guitar, the allen key for adjusting the truss rod and the bag. No strap. Now coming to the guitar. The body is really good. (But the gloss finish is a dust magnet though, keep in mind). The fretboard is smooth and the edges are well rounded. Nice craftsmanship overall. The grain of the neck is just, beautiful. You will love playing this. About the pickups, this guitar is equipped with two humbuckers, neck and bridge. One set of pole pieces are fixed and the other set is made with screws, so you can adjust them. There are three pickup options (switch), neck, neck+bridge and bridge. You also get a Treble (or Tone) pot with the Volume pot. The tone is, well, a humbucker tone. I tried the dummy coil mod and there was not a lot of difference. Currently, I have lowered the pickup and adjusted the screw pole pieces to get more highs. I've been thinking about splitting the coils and re-routing the pickups. I'll update once I am done. I believe both the pots are Logarithmic (A). So I'm also thinking of switching them to Linear (B) ones, a bigger one for the Treble (or Tone) pot.To sum up, this is a great guitar for any player. The only trade offs are tone wise. If you are someone who loves the Strat tones, you are going to be disappointed. But it comes with it's own advantages and there are always ways to get close to the Strat tone (coil split, higher treble, dedicated treble boosters, etc).Just go for it. Happy playing!
