Expo hand held mitre guillotine

It's a large and heavy tool, and difficult to use. I've given it 3 Stars. It has been a helpful tool in my box, and, but it is bulky and heavy. Also, it is poorly designed, so be careful. It's very easy to cut yourself when trying to install the blade and cutting wheel, and it's very easy to loose the tips of your finger when you're manoeuvring wood into the correct position.

This is a nice tool with limitations. It does exactly what I want it to do, but:1) Don't cut anything wood thicker than about 1mm: the blade angle forces a cut that curves vertically, so you'll need to sand it flat.2) You need a pencil mark on the datum platform if you want repeating cuts of short lengths (50mm), which is what I bought the tool for. You cannot really put a mark on the datum plane because for some reason (design fault?) it rises clear of the platform.3) There is no 'right-handed' option for the datum plane so the long strips you want to cut into short must be fed in from the right - awkward.4) Design fault? The guillotine needs to be OPEN to adjust the datum plane to more than 105 degrees.I cured that by filing a millimetre off the pivot end of the datum plane- rounding it off so that it doesn't catch on the knife blade hinge...

It is very simple to use but a complete waste of time and money not worth the money at all if I was you I would not bey this item at all

Nice tool however in my opinion should be a lil bit improved. Locking the cutting angle sometimes interferes with the positioning of the material for cutting.

Excellent piece of kit. I use it for wooden ship building. It cuts perfect angles and straight edges. I highly recommend this if you are building wooden ship models. Way better than a normal mitre and saw.
