Handy little knife for gardening good quality

A very small but razor sharp knife that I carry on my car keyring. Well made and light.

4/5 coz if you pay a bit more you could have a Victorinox classic SD that has a blade, file with screwdriver and top of the line scissors and still about the same size as this opinel.other flaws are: it came not very sharp and its not very safe in the pocket as the blade can open up very easily while it takes beating from your keys in the pocket and you can stab yourself in the leg or cut your fingers when reaching for the keys.it doesn't have, as all other opinels, a backbone spring to keep it closed when closed or open when open.It looks cute tho and its very good for all the small emergencies like opening packaging or letters and so and its very light.Anyway if you pay a couple more quid on amazon you can have a lot better and more functional keyring, myself i prefer the victorinox classic on my keysI only use this opinel to open letters and parcels, i like opinels for their design and simplicity, but the price is not always adequate, in high street shops they get too expensive for so called peasants knives.Bargain price on amazon and a must have for all knife collectors, this is the smallest opinel available.

I’m on my 3rd or 4th of these tiny penknives. Occasionally I’ll get over enthusiastic and try to cut something too hard and snap the blade. It’s a small knife so I should know better. While waiting for the replacement to come I realise quite how often I have use for a tiny penknife. Opening packages, peeling fruit, all sorts. These are beautiful little knives, well made and reliable if you bear in mind how thin the blade is.

A lot of reviewers are saying this is a novelty. I don't agree, it's a very practical and useful item to have on a keychain. And nice looking, too.However it is definitely novelty-sized. Don't expect to use it for splitting wood or doing anything heavy duty. But it's great for cutting string, opening packages, or quick little cutting jobs on the spot.The blade does not fall open but it also doesn't have a locking mechanism other than simple friction. That being said, I haven't had any problems with the blade opening unexpectedly. Say you have this thing knocking around in your pocket. All the forces on it are going to be pushing the blade inward, not outward, so it seems pretty safe. However, it is pretty sharp and it might make you nervous to have it right down there by your femoral artery, because it could do some damage in a one-in-a-million situation.
