The books by Ven Anne Catherine Emmerich are some of the best books I have ever read. She makes everything come to life. I have learned many facts in her books than I have anywhere else.

Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich - Thank you!
This book is amazing, it gives wonderful information about the life of Our Lady and while the author does not claim that the revelations given to Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich are to be taken as doctrine, like the Bible, it is clear to me at least that the information given in such detail must have come from Heaven. Sometimes you heard a musical note and it rings clear and true and that's the way this book sang to me. I am so glad that I found the books - 'The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ' and 'The Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary'. I got answers to questions I have wondered about - how could Jesus be said to be the son of David if Joseph was not his father? The Bible does not reveal that Our Lady was also of the House of David and more directly in line of descent that Joseph. Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich's visions and revelations gives us the full story whereas the Bible give us what we now call 'Headlines'.

Visionary's bio of Virgin Mary is superb!
First of all, one must be intellectually curious to appreciate this immense religious literary classic. The details of her clothing, the Virgin Mary's feelings deep in her heart as she went through the agony of the Flight into Egypt and the horrific tortures her heart suffered together as her Son, Christ, was brutalized during the Good Friday events ---all superbly recorded by Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich. Incidentally, this was one of the resources Mel Gibson tapped into as he and others did Pre-Production work for the film classic, " Passion of Christ". Highly recommended. Don't let the language stop you: after reading a few paragraphs, if your mind is in the right set, the reading becomes less of a struggle, along with ease in comprehension of what Mary endured as Mother of God in the Holy Land. If you use this work as a meditation guide, it will definitely help one to achieve personal advancement as a devout Catholic, for studying Mary's life is a key in perfecting the Interior Life.

Very informative
These revelations by a holy visionary is very informative and reflective. It helps me with increasing my contemplation and understanding of the mysteries of the Holy Rosary and the Gospels. The details in the description of the culture of that time and the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary increases my faith and love for God because I can always reflect on how it happened like a movie and images come to life. I can't put the book down. It is like reading a novel with vivid description of the characters and what they look like. This is not fiction though. It is real. And I feel the Holy presence of God like reading the Bible when I read this book. This should be required reading in all Catholic schools and most especially for protestants who do not honor the Blessed Virgin. They will start venerating her as the Mother of God.
