Works very well. Good coverage and perfect sharpness for scratching. Just be careful not to scratch too hard. I have not extended it to its full length but I haven't needed to since I'm only 5 foot eight. I noticed a few people complained that it broke when it was fully extended which may be but it seems pretty well made to me, and because the sharpness of the tines is perfect you don't really have to apply that much pressure. I previously owned two plastic ones that had little hands at the end and I liked both of them but they both did break and they broke with not a whole lot of pressure.I also bought a traditional bamboo back scratcher at the same time that I bought this one and it is practically worthless. The wooden tines at the end are so wide and dull that it is impossible to get a good scratching activity. I'm sorry that I wasted the money on the bamboo one.This one's a keeper for the price.

I have bought three of these so far. The first one was for me, the second two were gifts.I have developed problems with my shoulders as I've gotten older. That makes it difficult for me to reach back as far as I used to be able to. So when my back starts itching, I need a back scratcher!The telescoping feature is great. It allows it to be shorter while it's not in use, but plenty long enough when I need it. When it's extended, it stays extended for me no matter how hard I'm scratching my back. And the tines are metal, so they're plenty strong enough if you like a hard scratch. And if you don't press too hard, it's much more gentle.I keep mine beside my bed. I may have to get another one to keep in my purse!

I am writing this review six years after I purchased the item. I purchased it and then 2 more for others in the family. All of us are still using them. They function quite well and are in excellent shape.

Best back scratcher ever. Really satisfies the itches. Nice and sharp but not too sharp

This thing is amazing. I was so shocked at how great it is! I expected it to be so-so, but it is really fantastic. It is easy to adjust the length, but it also stays in place well when you pick your length. It scratches so well! It doesn't leave marks from what I can tell, and it's not too sharp or too dull. Don't be surprised when it looks a little small when you get it in the mail - what it doesn't have in size it makes up for in pure scratching perfection. Obviously you can tell I'm a bit excited about this purchase. My back is always itching, and this thing really hits the spot. If your back itches, buy this! You'll be just as happy as I am.

Where to start?1. Durability: This ain't no plastic, this is M-E-T-A-L baby! That's right, metal...the stuff they use to make lawnmowers, space shuttles, and travel mugs. If what you want is to reach that spot on your back (you know the one...just next to the left shoulder blade), this'll last long enough for your grandkids to use it. If however, you think you might use it as an emergency piton in Lechuguilla, well...the tree of life could always use a little pruning.2. Features: a) Telescoping b) UN-telescoping (These guys thought of everything!)3. Flexibility: I have not found an itch this thing could not scratch4. Safety: a) Durable "Danger, Danger Red" rubber-ish grip. You really have to either throw it or let go of it for it to leave your hand. b) The scratching tines are not razor blades (one person's bug is another's feature) c) NOT radioactive (as far as I know)Buy 2! (One for each hand)

This is a sturdy, well made back scratcher. I've purchased both the bamboo and the smaller telescoping back scratchers but they are not as good. The bamboo scratchers rub more than scratch and the smaller telescoping back scratchers are flimsy and do not provide enough pressure tending to bend in the middle making the scratcher awkward to use. This back scratcher has thicker and more durable tubing making it sturdy so when you apply pressure you get a good scratch. The length is perfect to reach any area on your back. The "claw" is a bit wider than the other metal scratchers and does a great job of reaching any area on your back. I'm very pleased with this scratcher. My search is over for a good back scratcher around $5 - $8 dollars.

I like these a lot! I find other scratchers to be rather dull but this one is not! They do break after about 6 months or so but they are so inexpensive they are easily replaceable. I buy a few at a time. Best back scratcher ever!
