Topdon, a must have for small shops and DIY’Ers
A great product, can’t be without it. Running a small shop, one of the biggest headaches is service resets and special functions. There’s nothing worse than finishing a job—oil change, brake service, TPMS, or a new part install—only to find out your scanner can’t reset the light or perform the required procedure. Then you’re stuck hunting for another tool or investing in a pile of brand-specific reset devices that clutter the bench and drain your wallet. This TOPDON scanner has been a massive relief. The Service and Special Functions menu alone makes this tool worth the money. I’ve personally used it for: • Oil service resets on Japanese vehicles • Electronic parking brake retraction on German cars after brake jobs • Tire pressure relearn procedures on Ford vehicles • Guided DPF regeneration on select diesel models Everything is clearly laid out, step-by-step, and easy to follow. No guessing, no digging through confusing menus. Just pick the function and go. A real-world example: last week an older Toyota Camry came in for routine service. After the oil change, the maintenance reminder was reset directly from the Maintenance menu in under a minute—no extra tools, no YouTube searching, no frustration. Hardware & Performance The 10-inch tablet is a big upgrade over smaller handheld scanners. The screen is clear, responsive, and easy to read even in a busy shop environment. Dual Wi-Fi makes a noticeable difference—this thing is fast, smooth, and handles multitasking without lag, which matters when you’re moving between diagnostics, service functions, and vehicle data all day. Professional-Level Features You Normally Pay More For This scanner punches well above its price point: • J2534 Pass-Thru support for OEM programming • OE-level topology mapping, which speeds up network diagnostics and makes tracking down communication issues far easier • SGW access for FCA, Nissan, and VW • 50+ service functions covering most real-world shop needs • ECU coding for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and VW • VAG guided functions, which are especially helpful for VW/Audi work • Bidirectional control (active tests)—a must for proper diagnostics • TopFix AI, which actually helps point you in the right direction instead of just throwing codes at you Bottom Line No scanner does everything, and for extremely obscure models or deep dealership-level programming you may still need another solution. But this TOPDON scanner easily handles at least 80% of the vehicles and services we see daily. For a small shop or serious DIYer who wants real capability without buying five different tools, this scanner delivers huge value, saves time, reduces frustration, and keeps jobs moving. It’s paid for itself already—and that’s saying something in a shop environment. Highly recommended. 👌

A Scanner I Reach for More Than Expected
I’ve been using the TOPDON ONE for several weeks now and have been very impressed with its performance. For background, I also own higher-end scan tools, including Autel, so I wasn’t expecting to reach for the ONE as often as I do. The topology mapping is one of my favorite features and makes it easy to quickly identify module communication issues and navigate vehicle systems. The scanner has been reliable, fast, and easy to use. I’ve used it for bidirectional controls, module diagnostics, service functions, resets, relearns, and live data on a variety of vehicles. The coverage has been excellent, and the interface is intuitive enough that I can get to the information I need quickly. One thing that stands out is the value. For the price point, the ONE offers features that are often found only on much more expensive tools. It has become a regular part of my diagnostic workflow and has earned a permanent place in my toolbox. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase and would recommend the TOPDON ONE to technicians, shop owners, and serious DIYers looking for a capable professional-level scan tool without spending thousands of dollars.

great tool for pros
I've been using the Topdon One for a week now to test as many of its functions as possible. I work in a large shop, so there are many different car models and years. Firstly, when I received the Topdon One, I was impressed by the quality and the feeling of sturdiness when you hold it. It opens very quickly, and registering the device with Topdon is simple and fast. The advanced topology is superb in terms of usability. It doesn't just show CAN on pins 6 and 14, but also identifies other networks. A report is generated after scanning all the modules and is easy to print, or you can send it via Bluetooth, which is very convenient. The device is very fast, and the graphical mode is very useful. You can display up to 12 different parameters at the same time. You can also combine four graphs, which is perfect for checking ABS problems. There are also 50 maintenance schedules accessible via a very user-friendly menu. In addition, it also comes with a J2534, which provides access to manufacturer programming. I sincerely believe that for the price, there are no comparable options. It was a very good first impression.

OE-Level Power Without the OE Price Tag
This scan tool hits a sweet spot between affordability and true professional capability. From daily diagnostics to advanced programming and coding, it delivers features you typically expect from tools that cost significantly more. The 10-inch display is clear, responsive, and perfectly sized for real-world shop use—easy to read under the hood or at the service desk without feeling bulky. Performance is snappy thanks to dual Wi-Fi, which makes multitasking, updates, and online functions smooth and reliable throughout the day. Where this tool really shines is depth. J2534 pass-thru support allows OEM programming, opening the door to dealership-level functionality without dealership-level pricing. Combined with OE-level topology mapping, diagnosing network and communication issues is faster and more intuitive, especially on modern vehicles with complex CAN architectures. For shops working on European vehicles, the value ramps up quickly. ECU coding for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and VW, along with VAG Guided Functions, makes this an excellent choice for euro-focused or mixed-fleet shops. Add in SGW access for FCA, Nissan, and VW, and you’re covered on late-model security-restricted vehicles without unnecessary workarounds. With 50+ service functions, full bidirectional control (active tests), and the added intelligence of TopFix AI, this tool doesn’t just pull codes—it helps techs think through repairs faster and more accurately. Bottom line: This is a high-value, OE-capable scan tool that punches well above its weight. It’s powerful enough for advanced diagnostics and programming, yet practical and fast enough for everyday shop use. An excellent investment for independent repair shops that want serious capability without overspending.

Excellent unit (upgraded from Phoenix Plus)
Coming from a Phoenix Plus, it's a nice, comparable, well built unit. The renewal cost is $299/year, cheaper than the Phoenix Plus, more service functions, and the AI assistant is a nice touch. That will help many diy guys do actual diagnosis vs the old parts cannon strategy. Tsb are a nice, but janky inclusion. And as much as it annoys the parts store employees, remember, codes are not part numbers. It's a direction to go in. Test, don't guess. I knocked off 1 star for 1 petty reason: it read my 2013 f150 vin, but couldn't decode it, so I had to go el' manual style. It's a brand new platform, and I did report the bug to Topdon. They are pretty good at getting updates out. FWIW, you may find other, more, shall we say, popular manufacturers on here. Know this: they are NOT supported by the manufacturers, (I've emailed several to ask specifically about that) and if you need AutoAuth, good luck. Topdon doesn't play that game, though. You buy on Amazon, it's the same manufacturers warranty and service. Autoauth works. If you want a Launch or Autel, I recommend AES wave, or any USA distributor, not on here.

Very Powerful Tool
To anyone that needs a true opinion of a scanner that can pretty much do it all without breaking the bank, look no further. I am a technician day to day and have been using it for about a month on my personal vehicles. Ford Maverick and BMW x5. The build quality and interface is beautiful. Very well built with a long lasting battery. What I loved the most was the interface at how everything was very easy to find especially with the Topology view. Something you only see at dealerships. This is a life saver to see the modules disconnected or communication on which line. Very similar to dealership software especially if you've used BMW software you'll know what I mean.I've used it on my Maverick and found out that my back up cam module was down but had a TSB from Ford notifying me of a recall. Saved me honestly on time and diagnostic. Next was my BMW x5 that I had used the TopDon One to help me change my transmission fluid, transfer case and battery. The instructions that prompts you are literally the same as BMW software allowing you to open and close the valves to drain fluid and reset adaptations which is a must. I also swapped out and coded my new battery which I was able to input the capacity and amperage. Overall, Ive been using it for about a month now and absolutely love the features of it being a bi directional tool with the option to program and code vehicles. Please keep it mind that on certain vehicles, you will need to purchase the token for a specific manufacturer but that is standard. Under Rights Inquiry you can see rights for OBFCM or NASTF. You can register your account and shop info with the capabilities to email you or the customer the whole vehicle report with pictures and data of your findings. It has a browser built in to do any searching on the web. A Lot of people may have mixed reviews of this scanner compared to others and that's their opinion as well as mine. The level of uses this has compared to Dealership is very close. I'm very impressed . Topdon customer support has been A1 with new releases. Since I've had it, I've probably updated it at least 15 times due to the scanner being so new. This is a good thing as it's constantly being updated. Any issues you can literally upload the logs to their support Team. The scanner is a powerful tool and not many realize the uses for active tests or bi directional especially with newer vehicles/ EV. The dongle and scanner can both be updated to the latest firmware and protocols but if you're not used to this level of OE capabilities, I'd try a different scanner from Topdon. Yes, it's that powerful. For the price, you're not going to find a scanner with this level of features for this price without going to the dealership or paying over $2k for those scanners and licenses. I can justify paying for a token on my own vehicle and it'll still be cheaper than taking it to the dealership. The AI assist is ok only because I don't really use AI to diagnose a car. Rather look at the data and freeze frames. I have yet to check the " Coding" feature with my vehicle as yet but once I test it and try it out I'll give a 2 month update.

Best Mid tier scanner on the market
I have used several professional scan tools, and the TOPDON ONE has quickly become my new go-to scanner. One of its best features is the quality of the reports it generates. The reports include enhanced manufacturer DTCs along with useful generic OBD-II information such as emissions-related faults and I/M readiness status. Not many scanners combine all of this data into one report. For professional documentation and CYA purposes, having that information attached to the fault report is extremely valuable. Sending reports directly from the scanner is seamless, quick, and easier than with any of my other scan tools. Most of the diagnostic reports I have saved and shared over the past several months have come from this TOPDON. The system scan topology also works on nearly every vehicle I have tested. I have only seen a couple of older, 20-plus-year-old Mercedes-Benz vehicles that did not display it. The tool is continuously updated with new features and improvements. It also has an excellent selection of service resets and maintenance functions. The wireless VCI is packed with features and supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Bluetooth connects faster and works well for everyday diagnostics, while Wi-Fi is better suited for programming and coding. The VCI supports modern communication protocols, including high-speed CAN, CAN FD, and DoIP. It can also function as a J2534 pass-thru interface for use with compatible OEM software and module programming. Overall, this tool offers excellent reporting, broad vehicle coverage, strong topology support, frequent updates, and a very capable VCI. For the price, it provides an impressive amount of professional-level capability and has become the scanner I reach for first.

Best deal for advanced DIY and shop use
This tool is absolutely amazing!! It’s very fast and the topography is so helpful. There’s direct links from the trouble codes to search their meaning and give you a variety of very helpful information. The unit is very well constructed with an excellent screen for watching training videos or whatever you want to look up. The graphics on the live data are out of this world!! I’m shocked by how low the price is for all the capabilities you get, this rivals tools twice the cost and it wins! The AI assistant features keeps getting more powerful with updates. It connects to vehicles quickly and the VCI allows for actual programming not just coding. I couldn’t be more happy with the purchase. I have a Snapon Zeus I haven’t used since I got this Topdon ONE and the Zeus was 10 grand. Don’t bother looking further this is the Best Buy out there for advanced capabilities period!

Good idea poorly implemented
Spelling mistakes all over the software. Engine performance monitor only shows 5 of the 6 cylinders on my 6.7l Dodge Ram. Built in browser crashes whenever I select the TopDon store.

Disappointed
This scan tool can't even open the service manual on the browser, it constantly crashes. Contacted Top don support, no help. All of the suggestions they've recommended don't work and they just stopped replying.

I thought this would be better than my cheap one from Canadian tire. It isn’t at all. It’s completely useless if you have a ford. Save ur $$
