Is this matt? Does it soak into wood, or coat it like varnish?

It's not a high gloss finish but does have a sheen to it, it doesn't soak into the wood but it does protect it well. I use it on my garden furniture and have never had any problems with it. I wouldn't use anything else on my garden furniture but if you are applying it to rough catchy wood like some fencing types, I would look at other types of Sadolin.

Can I put this on using a paint Sprayer ? I will be staining a log cabin

the stain is quite thin in texture but if you wanted to try it in a sprayer I would say use a thinner in it and that may help. I’ve never used this other than with a paint brush. As it’s the stain on my windows.

Anyone used this for a summerhouse? Already have Cuprinol wood preserve on but looking for an extra coat - would this do the job? Thanks

Sadolin Extra is for use on exterior joinery, windows and doors etc. It is generally used on top of Sadolin Classic which is a penetrating preservative woodstain. You could always just check with Sadolin that it will be compatible with Cuprinol. Regards. Paint Direct
