Good investment for wet days/excursions
I took this with me to a camping trip with fifth graders, as I was going to be gone for a full week. My wet bag came in pretty handy when it came to holding my hiking boots that wouldn’t fit in my North Face duffel bag so I mainly used my dry bag to keep all of my dirty hiking shoes. It works wonderfully as an additive when clipping it onto your North Face duffel bag with the carabiner clip. I’m considering getting the other two smaller versions to have something a little bit smaller for smaller day trips as the 35 L is the only size that comes with the straps so keep that in mind.

Rugged, Truly Waterproof Dry Bag Built for Real Outdoor Use
The The North Face Base Camp Dry Bag (18L) is a heavy-duty roll-top waterproof bag designed for camping, kayaking, and general outdoor use. Built from TNF’s well-known Base Camp material with reinforced construction, it is clearly aimed at durability and weather protection rather than ultralight packing. At $70, it sits in the premium tier for dry bags, but the build quality justifies the cost. Build Quality & Materials This is where the bag stands out. The Base Camp fabric with TPU coating feels extremely tough and abrasion-resistant. It has a thicker, almost rubberized feel compared to typical lightweight dry bags. The reinforced ballistic nylon bottom adds another layer of durability, especially when setting the bag down on rough terrain like rocks, docks, or gravel. This is not a delicate bag. It is clearly built for repeated, rough use. Waterproof Performance The roll-top closure with Hypalon collar creates a secure seal when properly rolled down. In real use, it keeps contents dry during rain, splashes, and brief exposure to water. As with any roll-top dry bag, it is not meant for full submersion, but for typical outdoor conditions it performs exactly as expected. Storage & Usability The 18-liter capacity is a practical middle ground. It is large enough for: • Extra clothing layers • Towels or beach gear • Electronics or valuables you want to keep dry • Day-trip camping essentials The structure of the material helps the bag hold its shape, making it easier to pack compared to very soft dry sacks. Carry & Features The included removable padded shoulder strap makes it comfortable to carry over longer distances, which is not always the case with simpler dry bags. Additional features like daisy chain webbing allow for attaching extra gear or clipping it to a kayak or pack. Pros • Extremely durable Base Camp material • Reliable waterproof roll-top closure • Reinforced bottom for rough surfaces • Comfortable removable shoulder strap • Useful 18L size for day trips • Holds shape well for easier packing Cons • Heavier than ultralight dry bags • Premium price point Bottom Line The North Face Base Camp Dry Bag is built for durability and reliability rather than minimal weight. If you need a dry bag that can handle rough environments and consistently keep your gear protected, this is a well-built option that delivers on its purpose.

No shoulder strap included.
Just received this, so I haven’t tested it yet. It did not come with the pictured shoulder strap.

Light, Durable, and Easy to Spot
We used this dry bag on a recent kayaking and boating trip, and it ended up being one of our favorite travel items. The first thing we noticed was how incredibly lightweight it is. At first, I was a little concerned because it felt slightly flimsier compared to another dry bag we own, but that quickly turned out to be a non-issue. The material strikes a really nice balance. It’s light without sacrificing durability. It held up well throughout our trip and kept everything dry, which is exactly what you want. The lighter weight actually made a big difference since it didn’t feel bulky or heavy when carrying it around. We also LOVED the bright color! It was super easy to spot, especially on a boat or in a group setting. The only thing I wish it came with is a shoulder strap for easier carrying. That said, the buckle does have a loop, so if you already have a spare strap you can easily attach one. Overall, this worked out even better for us than our previous generic dry bag. Great combination of weight, durability, and visibility. The North Face never disappoints so we would definitely recommend for outdoor activities!

Wish it was a little bigger but overall awesome bag
This camp dry bag has been an excellent addition to my outdoor gear. The quality is impressive, with sturdy materials that feel like they can handle rough conditions without issue. It’s clearly built with durability in mind, giving me confidence that my belongings stay protected from water and wear. I also really appreciate how lightweight and portable it is, making it easy to pack and carry on any trip. I do wish it were just a bit larger for extra storage, though I understand the current size helps keep it compact and easy to manage. Overall, it’s a reliable and thoughtfully designed dry bag that performs exactly as I need it to.

What do you expect? It's North Face
If you need a super high quality dry bag and money is no object, this is the dry bag for you. You cannot do better than this bag. Sure, you can spend more or less and get the same results. But this is North Face. A brand known for exception performance in extreme conditions. For testing, I filled this with nothing but air and closed it up. I dunked it in a bucket of water. No air bubbles. I kept it there for 15 minutes (with a weight on top). No bubbles. I left it overnight (again, with a weight). The next morning I pulled it out. Can you guess what it was like? Yep. No leakage. I mean, it's North Face. Of course there was no leakage. Considering you can get an equivalent size bag at REI for 1/3 the price, you might ask yourself, "Self, is this worth it?" Well, that depends. Can you afford this? If you have to ask yourself that question, then go with the cheaper bag. But if that question didn't even cross your mind, then get this one. It will last years and comes with the North Face brand. There's only a few brands more prestigious than that.

Will keep things dry.
I got the The North Face Base Camp Dry Bag 12L size. My motivation for getting this was seeing my Cousin's dry bag, and how he didn't worry about his valuable stuff that can't get wet when canoeing. Right now, I don't take my camera canoeing as I'm concerned about destroying it by getting it wet. This bag will allow me to pack it and other stuff safe from a dunking or simply drop in the water. I did watch the website video's to learn how to fold and roll the top to make it watertight. The bag itself is pretty lightweight, and it has loops on it so it can be tied to a canoe or whatever you need.
