Climate change is real and persistent. Even a brief study of the recent past illustrates this, but it becomes all the more certain when one broadens the scope to take in the vast sweep of geologic time. Is natureโs inherent dynamism responsible for the climate change of our era? Or are the cause(s) man-made? Many scientists, environmentalists, journalists, and such politicians as Al Gore claim the latter. They argue that: 1. The earth is warming. 2. Human emission of such greenhouse gases as CO2 is the predominant (perhaps exclusive) cause. 3. Such warming, in various forms, is pernicious to life on Earth, including human life. This is known as the theory of man-made or anthropogenic global warming (the AGW hypothesis). The public policy questions that arise are profound, and the stakes are high; for if the AGW hypothesis is true, then we arenโt doing enough to protect ourselves from baneful consequences. But if the AGW hypothesis is mistaken regarding either points two or threeโmuch less bothโthen a dramatic scale-back of man-made carbon emissions is an insane policy that will severely diminish human living standards while promoting no off-setting gain. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)โa group of scientists under United Nations jurisdictionโsupports the AGW hypothesis. Its proposed solution is a dramatic increase in government power to impose massive scale-backs in the use of carbon based fuels. Such a policy would affect the price and availability of literally everything we own: our clothes, home, food, medicine, and means of transportation. Energy powers civilization; the less of it produced, the more difficult and poverty-ridden life becomes.Needlessly diminishing carbon-based energy production without a viable alternative will have drastic consequences in the developed world. But more harrowing, it will mean certain death for millions of people in the undeveloped world. The first point to be established, therefore, is whether, in fact, there is any rational basis for accepting the AGW hypothesis. Doing so requires an understanding of Earthโs climate history viewed in the proper context, meaning in this case, on an appropriate timescale. Review: Finally some truth about a complex topic - When I first saw the "hockey stick" graph (many years ago) I was immediately struck by one obvious problem. The "past" as documented by reality was not mirrored in the calculated projections. In college, as a business major, I studied multiple linear regression -- and one lesson was that a regression analysis that did not reasonably well reflect past history was probably a poor analysis (i.e. worthless). After all this time (40 years?) the many regression analyses STILL do not adequately account for the previous warm and cold periods that are well documented. The idea of a "tipping point" (that applies to piles of sand and other phenomena) is not demonstrated by either past history or given a reasonable explanation in the "official" theory of global warming. (Note in the history of the earth there have been warm and cold periods (over billions of years) no "runaway" warming has ever occurred.) This booklet provides a well researched alternate view of "climate change" that explains how the dynamics of the earth's climate changes over time with much more accuracy than the "official" theory. Note that current weather is NOT climate change. We are experiencing a particularly hot summer in most of the U.S. (North American continent). However, similar weather patterns were experienced in the 1930s (when the mid-west was a "dust bowl"). The dust bowl period occurred with the CO2 in the atmosphere was a fraction of today's quantity. (No explanation in the IPCC theory covers that situation.) I strongly urge all those interested in climate change to read this booklet and give it an honest thought as to the alternate theory that it provides. Review: truth comes in many forms, this book for instance. - Outstanding book, riddled with facts, science and reason. this is not right wing propaganda, this is an intellect, looking at the facts of reality, stating climate change exist, but climate change always existed.

Well Vetted
I found it logical, based on facts, easy to read, and substantiated with research. A good book to give as a gift to someone that's been propagandized and afraid of life.

Ancient Super Continent
Years ago, it was published that the name of my Title was Pangea and later broke up into Gondwana and other continents. I even bought a heat-sensitive drinking cup with Pangea that broke up into the current continents when heated.
