But these are round ant bait stations. I personally prefer the Advion ant gel. **Q: Do you need to open each station in some way?** A: No, the bait stations have openings for the ants to go in and out of... The only thing you need to do is to place the bait station in the ant trail/path... I tried several other things, with no results. These made a huge dent in the infestation of ants, the ants love it, and I noticed a huge decrease in the number if active colonies after a week or so. But, the scent also attracts dogs, all of my dogs, even the very picky eater tried eating these. I had to cover them with spiky mesh pinned into the ground to prevent my dogs from getting them. The squirrels also tried eating them. The peanut butter scent is likely the reason.
