More laughs than lessons
I laughed my butt off. Everything from mere chuckling (on just about every page) to laughing out loud while reading it on a bicycle at the gym (and probably looking like a crazy person). That being said, I really didn't learn too much about what to expect. He does, however, hit some important (and surprising) points that first time fathers probably have NO clue about (like the tar-like stuff that comes out of the baby's butt the first week.. eww, and what it is REALLY going to be like in the hospital room during delivery). He hits several items like these very breifly and lightly, but always humorously. All in all, if you can get it for a cheap price, or from a friend for free, it is definitely worth checking out. Especially since it is a super light read (completely possible to read in 1 day). I recommended it to all my friends, and am passing it along to one of them.

Great gift for the father-to-be
Finding a decent gift for the father-to-be is tough. Gave this to a father expecting his first child; both he and his wife loved it!

Basically, a waste...
I believe that Michael Crider wanted this book to be witty, folksy, irreverent, and brutally honest. In fact, it was apparent throughout that he was trying very hard to hit those marks. Instead, "The Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy..." turned out to be sophomoric, arrogant, crude, juvenile, uninspiring, condescending, and brutally honest. He appears to be mostly annoyed, disinterested, disengaged, and immature about his entry into the world of fatherhood. Ultimately, Crider paints a picture of himself as an idiot and a jerk. I suspect that he exaggerated many things in futile attempts at humor, but the jokes fell flat and he comes off as the sort of father that I never hope to be.There are a few minors positives that prevent me from giving this book one star. There were a few genuine laughs, though I can easily count them on one hand. It was brutally honest, and Crider deserves some moderate credit for revealing his genuine reactions to fatherhood and opening himself up to critique like mine. And it is clear that he does genuinely love his son, which made the poor humor slightly more palatable. Nonetheless, I was quickly put-off by Crider's attitude and writing style, and he did little throughout this book to redeem those initial impressions. As I read it in bed over the course of several nights, I found myself saying to my wife multiple times, "This is one of the worst books that I've ever read." This expectant father didn't find the book to be helpful or entertaining at all, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Very Impressed
My husband picked this book among the many found on Amazon, and for someone who hasn't read a book in years, he was half-way through this book in the first two days. He couldn't put it down and I often found him with tears rolling down his face because he was laughing so hard. He said it's great book, very glad he got it!!!

Just okay....
I picked this up and flipped through it on a horrible trip to register for things at the baby store. It seemed funny so I ordered a copy when I got home. Unfortunately the rest of the book wasn't nearly as funny as the section I read at the store. It is okay but nothing fantastic.

Cute book
Quick read, fairly entertaining. Don't expect to learn a whole lot from it though. More of a comedy version of one guy's experience.
