Block Party 1 (Block Party series)

This is my favorite author got a load of respect for this man. This book series is insane its hard to put the book down im on my 3rd time ready parts 1-3 cause i just got books 4-8! Yes there are 8 books in this series! And guess what this world goes even deeper cause he ties in characters FROM ALL HIS BOOKS.. this one dude got your reading covered for a year or 2 (depending) think in total he has 15-20 books... best thing i ever brought back from prison was my love for "hood books" if you like any hood gangster movies you will love this book.

After reading "No Exit" I had to buy the rest of the novels in the True to Life Series. Block Party 1 is a great follow-up novel and another page turner.Cashmere has just be released from prison and despite knowing the dangers and consequences of his previous lifestyle, it is one that is hard to turn away from. Block Party one shows the internal conflict of a man who desperately wants to do right, but is addicted to the life of the streets.Old man Slim is by far my favorite character. He is the veteran in the neighborhood and despite falling victim to a powerful drug addiction, he is still one of the smartest men on the streets and a loyal confidant. Him and Cashmere together is a powerful combination.Once again, Al-Saadiq depicts a real life portrayal of the streets and the drug game. What separates this novel from the rest is the insight you will be able to see in the characters. Not only will you get a closer look at the drug game and everything that comes along with it, you get to see the character's thought process, lessons learned and all of the emotions that come with the job. This is not work done by the inexperienced or the misinformed...this is TRUE TO LIFE!

Couldn’t stop reading it once I started, it was hard to put the book down!! Great book!! Along with the other books that go along with it🔥🔥

I am an avid reader and can't believe that I've missed this series until now! It wasn't by choice. I didn't realize until reading that this was the book that would constantly sell out and people would sell their copies for over 100 dollars. It isn't the typical urban fiction tale that may not be well-researched or written by someone without clear insight into this lifestyle. It gives factual details and allows the readers to journey into the mind and raw emotions of these characters and what those who live like them really go through in real life. It is no surprise that this is considered a classic and gives a refreshing reminder of a time when this genre stood strong. I look forward to the movie. For now I am about to purchase the rest of this series. Good Job Mr. Al Saadiq Banks!

I started this book expecting to see the same names that were in No Exit. Instead, Al-Saadiq introduced us to an entirely new group of characters and a brand new story line. This book was the perfect follow up to No Exit. This book told the story exactly as it is when the old head who used to be the man comes home and there's a new man running things. How does he adapt? How does everyone else adapt? This book answers all of those questions.

Big ups to Mr. Banks.... I know I'm behind on the series but decided to buy a copy and catch up... One down and so many to go. I have to say I really enjoyed the story line. Once I picked this book up I couldn't put it down. I finished it in about three days. And wow... Didn't think it would go down like that, what a crazy turn of events. Must read!!! One love!

For those who want to critique Mr. Banks negatively, I suggest you try reading more than just one of his works before selling him short with a mediocre review. Block Party was an excellent read and definitely a tale that has been lived out in reality more than once in cities across the globe. I guess you would really have to understand this genre and those who come from this side of the tracks in order to appreciate it. Don't knock his hustle!!!

I'm a little late to this authors work and i'm so mad about, Oh my god this book was dope AF!🙌🏾 I'm currently reading part 3 Sincerely yours which ties in with this and no exit (Start there!) You will NOT regret coping amy of his books they are 🔥🔥🔥💯
