Used this to finish mortar joints in newly laid brick wall
This tool works great. After the mortar sets up a bit, you do the vertical joints first, then the horizontal joints. You set the height of the nail head the appropriate depth. Just make sure to clean it thoroughly after each use.I watched a British tutorial on this and the presenter didn't know which end to use.If done correctly you don't need to use a jointer following this.

Sturdy make
Reliably well made, though you’ll probably have to grab a 16 penny if you’re looking to rake back more than a 1/4”. Aside from that it’s solid as can be.

It has a specific use
It is good quality. Make sure to use the proper nail side for the job at hand. The head can be used after filling in the course when set. You rub it over the new mortar. Or it can be used with the point to take out old weak mortar to be pointed

No more raking
Broke the first row of motar i raked out. And it was mainly dirt, pebbles and sand. House os 107 years old so motar was not made like today's. So it should have been a breeze.
