Decent quality vent, fits well and does the job. Looks neat once installed and allows good airflow.Only issue was the flap – it tends to bang about in the wind, which got a bit annoying, especially at night. I added some small foam pads either side of the flap to soften the impact, and that’s sorted it right out.Overall, a good bit of kit, just needed a little DIY touch to make it perfect.

This brilliany white cowl vent is well made, sturdy and simple to install.It has a single back draft vent, which cannot be seen when installed. The emivabke cowl has a slotted horizontal vent.It is a good size, which is helpful for covering over-size holes in brickwork for the 150mm vent pipe.Screw caps complete the gloss finish.My only suggestion to the manufacturer: offer this product in black, too.

Easy enough to fit mainly because it is enormous! I put this on my garage and it defintely stands out. Didn't pay to much attention to size when buying because of where it would be sited, but compared to the one I have for the hob extractor this thing may put some people off.Things to consider, the length of plastic for attaching the ducting to is very short, best to buy a metal jubilee ring as a tie wrap will not be sufficient (well not unless you want to start swearing while fitting!) And the screw cover caps either snap in place or not, one has already popped out of its own accord. The flap works well but is not held onto the front cover so could be fiddly when fitting at height.Good value but you could buy smaller at the local did store.

Getting excited over a cowl - yes, I love it. My cooker hood exits on a side of the house subject to strong winds and I had endless trouble with back draft, not to mention that the wind blew the old cowling off the wall. This design is solid and the cowl deflects the wind. So no more back draft and no more being blown off the wall.

Good quality product which looks neat and stylish. My only reservations are (1) the lack of a fly/insect mesh screen, which I fitted retrospectively and (2) the retention lugs that keep the removable cowl locked in the wall fitting are quite small and it doesn’t take much to dislodge it. But it works well and the back-draught flap is effective.
