Great product! I bought this little gem for my ...
Great product! I bought this little gem for my 1999 Ford Ranger. Evidently, I'm going through a mid-life crisis of sorts because I decided to add a 3 inch lift, bigger tires, and sweet wheels and get a little bit of that truck's youthful mojo back! After all, it was my first car after college and the only vehicle I ever bought new. I like that truck. Only one problem with the truck--it didn't have bluetooth. I like talking on the phone hands free (while driving) and I thought I'd give this one a shot. This was way easier to setup and get started that I thought it would be. The audio is clear. The transmission from the bluetooth device to the radio is seamless and I haven't had any cracks, pops, cross static, radio interference, or loss of signal. You can leave the hands free device plugged in for a few days, but if you leave it in too long it will drain the battery. I learned this the hard way (like I learn most things in life). The push to talk button works great with the iPhone and it actually dials better than the bluetooth device built into my Prius. Now that I think about it, that's exactly why I'm fixing up my truck. I drive a freaking Prius, people! And I wanted something with a little more grit to take camping AND talk hands-free while driving. I'm going camping after the first of the year and I really don't want to pull up to the site in a Prius. Don't get me wrong, I love my Prius. It holds TONS of gear, but it looks like a door stop. There. You have it. That's why I'm lifting my truck. The streaming audio works like a champ on this bad boy! I've been totally jamming to Christmas music lately on my Pandora station. After you pair the phone with the device, it's just as easy to stream music. Nothing like going down the road in a awesome looking truck jamming out to Otis Redding singing "Merry Christmas Baby". Honestly, the Bonnie Raitt / Charles Brown version of that song rocks too. They did a duet on the "A Very Special Christmas Album 2" album and it's fantastic. Both versions sound nice and clear on this! Side note: I haven't tried the micro SD slot on the handsfree yet, so I can't give you a review on that. Maybe I'll do an update when I get time. The only downside I've heard from it is not on my end. Sometimes the people I call say that they hear their voice echo. I'm assuming it's because they hear their voice coming through my radio. Actually, the only person that's really complained about it is Rob--and he complains about every damn thing on the planet. I'm serious. Right now his big beef is that Thor Ragnarok was just "too slapsticky". This is coming from THE SAME GUY who made me watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. And that's 42 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Never. Get. Back. I was a little worried that it may protrude too far from my cigarette lighter slot (yes, this truck is old enough to have a cigarette lighter) and catch the shifter on the way down. It doesn't. It's got a low profile and it's perfect for tight spaces! YES! All in all, this is a great product. I recommend it to anyone looking to add hands free audio to their car. I've already bought one for my wife's Smart car for Christmas. I hope she doesn't read this. I've also included pictures of it in the vehicle so you can see just how far it protrudes. Also, here's pictures of the truck, Prius, and Smart car. I just washed both of them so I thought I'd share the pictures. Yeah, I know the paint is peeling on the truck. I'm about to fix that, too. I went ahead and included the mockup of what I'm about to do to the truck too! It's getting it's mojo back! AWWWWWWW YISSSSSSS! Update 9/3/2018 - I included a new picture of my truck and it looks totally sweet! I've decided against the decals simply because the simple black / white motif looks a little like a stormtrooper and I dig it.

Great way to play MP3 files in older cars
Best gadget I've bought recently! I wanted a way to play my MP3 files in my older cars that don't have a USB input and didn't want to have to replace the stereo. Just plug this in the cigarette lighter (assuming you have one), tune it and the FM radio to the same frequency, plug a USB drive into the 1A port, and voila! You can play your favorite music through the car's existing stereo. Sound quality is as good as your car's stereo. No wiring, no installation. Bonus, you can have handsfree phone use if you want and use the 3A USB port to charge your phone. It's so cheap that I've bought one for each of my cars and given some to friends. Caveats: 1) It only plays the files in order, so no random playing. 2) If your cigarette lighter is always on (rather than switched on/off with ignition) you have to remember to unplug this device if you're not going to drive the car for awhile or it will drain your battery. 3) PRO TIP: Use a "stubby" USB drive to make it less cumbersome. 4) If you hear distortion on loud passages, try turning the volume down on this device and turning up the volume on your radio.

Good quality
Use this everyday in my 2005 car and it works fine. There is radio static which I can’t seem to get rid of no matter what radio station I’m on, but that’s going to happen no matter what.

So far works great!
Works great, '02 Ranger, connects easy enough. Controls are simple but I had to read the manual. Setting preferred frequency was easy and it saves it after I have to pull it from the port(my 12v ports are always powered). Adjusting volume is simple, max is 30 then it beeps once loudly, I set it to max on the adapter then use car stereo volume knob to get the final desired play volume. Mainly using it to listen to music but call clarity was acceptable and the mic easily picks up my voice. Just gotta remember your call is broadcast over FM to your car, other radios nearby can unintentionally listen into your adapters set frequency and hear your calls(can even listen in from my clock radio in my room!). No AUX port but it's priced so reasonably I can look past it. Voltage display is briefly displayed when I plug it in, nice to have included. So far I'm satisfied.

Not perfect, but impressive for the price!
I'll have to update this as time goes on. Out of the box, I had it set up in less than five minutes. I was on the way to work so I didn't take the time to find a truly clear station (my truck's station tuner skips over dead stations so the station I selected had static and hints of sound) but even so the sound quality surprised me - it's pretty damn good and the background noise was only audible between songs. Once I figure out how to actually tune to a truly empty frequency, I imagine it'll be even better. Haven't bothered yet because surprisingly, it's good enough. [Update: I used radio-locator.com to find a vacant station that had minimal interference over most of town, tuned the transmitter to that station, then tuned my truck to that as well. Once the transmitter was broadcasting, my truck could connect easily instead of skipping over the empty channel and the sound quality is indeed much better. I do not hear any distortion whatsoever, and I live in a fairly large city. Some reviewers seem to get distortion no matter what they do, so I wanted to mention that my antenna is located on the front passenger side of the vehicle, which is relatively close to the transmitter compared to vehicles with the antenna on the back. I don't know if that would affect the sound quality, but it's the only factor I can think of.] Phone calls work as well and are easy to answer. I'll have to test the microphone quality more and get feedback from people when they call, but it works. Very small form factor. I measured and checked the dimensions before I ordered, but I still was not sure if it was going to fit where my port is because it's tucked into a recessed compartment with a sliding cover. But it does - just barely. If it were any bigger, it would not. Very small and unobtrusive. I'm pleased that it fits as I was not interested in it gooseneck model and most of the others I looked at had larger dimensions than this one. I noticed that the display didn't turn off when I shut off the truck, so I waited 10 minutes and came back out to check. Apparently my 12v port and cigarette lighter must run even with the truck shut off, so I'll have to unplug it after every trip. I suspect that would be a problem with any equivalent device, however - if it runs on 12v and the port never shuts off, there's no way it would know the car is off. Just be careful and check whether your port operates constantly or only when the vehicle is running before you leave it plugged in over the weekend.

I love this device it's small compact very sturdy and packed with a ton of features
I love this device it's small compact very sturdy and packed with a ton of features; exactly what I was looking for. Installation, setup, and connecting to Bluetooth was extremely easy; took less than 5 minutes. So far, sound quality has been fantastic. One important thing to know is when you're streaming music from your phone to this device then to the car... you have three volume controls, you have to set each of those accordingly. Make sure the volume control on your phone is turned up enough. I really like the hands-free calling option with this. All you have to do is press the button to answer and again to hang up. Also just like I mentioned before sound quality is fantastic. Before I purchase this item I read a number of reviews and some said this device drained the car battery. That's completely nonsense! Those auxiliary ports on your car don't even have power when the car is off so impossible. Anyway, this is a great little device for the price you'll definitely enjoy it. Update... After using this item for a while I thought I'd give a quick update on some additional things I discovered. Taking the rating down 2 stars The device works great when you initially set it up and if you're traveling locally you won't have any issues however, if you decide to go on a longer trip this device is kind of annoying. The way this item works is your phone connects to it through Bluetooth then this device transmits the signal to one of the channels on your radio. As long as you're traveling locally all is good but when you travel across the state or farther your radio starts to tune into different channels which are broadcasted in different regions this will cause conflict to the station which you initially set up your device and you will have to set your device to a new station not a huge deal but it is an inconvenience. If I knew this I probably would have just purchased a different device that transmitted Bluetooth but plugged directly into the radio's AUX port. The other thing I noticed was when you play music on your phone and you listen to it through your headphones your phone has automatic volume control meaning, all the different songs that you listen to maybe recorded at different volumes but your phone's able to compensate for that variability and keep the volume consistent as you listen to different songs. This device doesn't appear to have that automatic volume control feature so it is kind of annoying when you're listening to different songs, podcast, YouTube videos etc sometimes you wind up constantly changing the volume. I find super annoying

Seems good. Impressed
I purchased this as my old one stopped working properly. I was really impressed by its quality, in terms of sound, connectivity and ease of use. Also there is no static like I used to hear at times with my old one.
