Good for diabetes but not an easy tea to drink!
Since the time my father was diagnosed with pre diabetes, I have attempted to find natural remedies to help with his condition and when I chanced upon this, I was keen to give this a shot.I followed the method given- soaking it overnight, squeezing it in the morning and then straining it and drinking on empty stomach- and my first impression was 'very very odd smell'. Although it was for my father, I did take a few sips to write this review. I just could not drink it owing to the smell and that's when I decided to add a drop of lemongrass oil to it. I could easily drink it after that. That's the first issue- the smell. It is not exactly bad, it is just odd and will take time getting used to.Secondly, although I have a high threshold for bitterness, I still found it rather bitter. Since I enjoy the bitter taste, it wasn't a big problem for me but I would suggest to have it with cinnamon to offset the bitter taste. To compare with regular green tea, I find green tea extremely easy to drink but this was bitter for me and the odd smell made it even more difficult to gulp it down. These are the 2 main issues but both can be managed by some suitable additions. For me, the bitterness was not a problem but the peculiar smell was.The quality seemed good and the buds were largely intact. If you are diabetic or pre diabetic, this is worth a shot. However without monitoring you won't know if it is working for you so do monitor yourself over a 2 month period. It has other health benefits too but Diabetic care is the reason Withania Coagulans (Paneer dodi) is mainly known for.Bought a trial pack this time but will be investing in a bigger variant as this tea is a safe bet in keeping sugar issues at bay.
