Excellent quality and very generous size
After trying different grip pads, Mohawk is the only one I will buy again. Not only is the pad as thick as described, it is two sided - the rubber side can go down on my hard marble floor - or if layering carpet (which I have not), the soft side can go down. The pad is larger than described but is easy to mark (no wriggling) and cuts like a dream. Previous experience with Mohawk has shown me that it does not damage hardwood floors and certainly prevents carpets (and people) sliding. I have had no problems with vile smells or plastic residue left on floors. Extra hint - if you are laying down two or more smaller carpets you might find it more cost efficient to do the math and get one bigger carpet to cut down.

Great rug pads!
Wanted to increase the sound deadening of my rugs because the floors in my apartment building are eeky and creaky with every step, and I often hear the neighbors below. I had some cheap anti-slip pads from IKEA that weren’t really doing their job. These are a huge upgrade, not just in that the anti-slip is really good. First off, the sizes I ordered were true to size within an inch or so. I’ve definitely bought a “5 x 3” rug pad, but it ends up being “4.5 x 2.5” leaving you with a lot of overhang, not the case with these. They laid relatively flat after being unfolded and didn’t leave any wrinkles you could see or feel in the rugs. I saw some reviews complain about the smell. Yes, they smell a little “chemically” out of the box. But once set up and with a rug on top, there’s no noticeable smell. I only have the 1/4” version, and the cushion effect is really good, my stiffer rugs feel a lot more comfortable to walk on now. I don’t see any reason to get the thicker versions. Overall, very pleased!

Perfect rug pad
Outstanding rug pad! I used the pad under a 9x12 carpet (purposely chose a larger size so I could put a runner right next to the larger rug). First, let me say that I managed to maneuver this huge rug pad by myself, just one short guy and a huge heavy rug pad! It wasn’t easy — because the thing actually does its job and grips to the floor, so moving it around was quite cumbersome— but it was at least possible with effort. Once I got it in place, I got my (Ruggable one-piece rug) on top of it pretty easily. I taped down the far edge of the carpet to the pad just to give it some stability while I dragged my sofa back into place on top of it. I fully expected that the whole system would shift while I moved the couch and I’d have to wrestle painfully to get it back into position, and then spend a long time taping the rest of the rug to the pad below to keep it from shifting. But no! — the Mohawk rug pad didn’t budge and it kept everything in place. I’m using the pad over wall to wall carpet and I have to say this is a brilliant rug pad for that setup. I was skeptical at first of the instructions of “felt side down (on the wall to wall carpet) and “rubber side up” (contacting the new area rug). But this rug pad is flawless for soft surface placement. I didn’t have to tape down any more of the rug past the initial one foot strip — it just doesn’t budge on the carpet beneath (the felt locks into fibers) and the rug on top doesn’t budge, being gripped by the rubber. I could not be more pleased. And btw, I didn’t notice an odor other than a faint whiff when I opened the package. I highly recommend this rug pad for any use but especially for over-carpet use.

A really good rug pad!
So, there I was, one year ago, picking out a cheapo rug from one of the big box stores for tools and home hardware and decor *ahem* for $99.00, with every intention of laying it down on top of the existing wall to wall carpeting in my bedroom. That didn't happen, however, and I just stored the rug instead. But a year later, we ripped out all of that old carpeting and installed hard wood flooring throughout the entire house, and who had a rug ready to go? This kid! But I knew I needed a rug pad, and I knew I needed a slightly thicker one due to the, uh, quality of the rug. Cheap rug, but good quality rug pad should even things out, right? I ordered this and it arrived right on time. I unwrapped both it and my rug to let them air out. I did have to trim the 8' side by close to a foot, but scissors did the job just fine--and I had people waiting on me since they wanted to set up my bed after the rug was laid, so I was cutting in a damn hurry boy no problems. Super easy to lay down, super cushy under the rug, and I'm super happy. The only reason for four stars instead of five: there was some serious off-gassing while it was airing out for a day before being laid down inside, as well as a bit afterward for a while. And lifting up the carpet now, two months later, I can still get a whiff of that smell.. though I honestly can't say I smell it with the rug down on top of it anymore. Overall, though? I'm super pleased with this rug pad and I'll definitely buy another one from this company next time I need one!

Works great under work-out machines.
We ordered a rubber mat for our workout equipment to sit on in our den. The smell and look just didn't fit. So, we ordered this non-slip rug pad. It's thick and protects our floors perfectly. Comfortable to walk on and actually looks like a rug just as it is. We ordered the 1/2 inch for the machines to sit on and be more protective on our floors. No strange odor and the color also worked out great. I'm positive the rug pad will be great for what it is intended for. However, it's multi-use really worked out for our intended use.

The perfect solution to "walking" rugs
This rug pad is PERFECT. Before using the pad, my rug had folds and wrinkles and had to be straightened every single day, sometimes more than once a day. With the rug pad, the rug has not moved an inch. It is laying perfectly flat with not a fold or wrinkle in sight! As for the smell, there is a bit of a tobacco smell but my family hasn't even noticed it! Thank you Mohawk for a great product!

ABSOLUTE PUTRID ODOR THAT IS SICKENING!
I don't usually write reviews, but as I believe this is a safety issue I felt it was my moral obligation to write it. I ordered several of these Mohawk Home Non-Slip Rug Pads during January and February of 2024. The odor is nauseating. I put them outside during the day to air them out but it didn't help at all. The disgusting smell began to increase throughout my house and I couldn't get the odor to go away. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to run into the bathroom feeling light-headed and nauseous. I reported this directly to Mohawk and I was told they recently had a "bad batch," and they believed the odor was most likely caused by contaminated dye that was added to the latex for color. The smell intensified, especially while my heat was on, so I had a service call with an HVAC/Duct company. He explained that the odor from the rug pads was blown throughout my house when the heat was on and then the return vent sucked up the air sending it back to my heating system which then circulated the horrific-smelling air throughout my entire house. He cleaned and deodorized the HVAC system which helped somewhat, but the smell lingers in my furniture, rugs, blankets, etc. I have been washing everything non-stop and have sprayed Febreze everywhere. I looked back through the Amazon reviews about these Mohawk rug pads and I have found many other people complaining about the dreadful stench, and this goes all the way back to 2020. So the reason given to me by Mohawk for the atrocious odor being caused by a "bad batch" that recently occurred is not only unacceptable but complete hogwash. I contacted the EPA as well as filed a complaint with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission about this issue. It is well known that VOCs, Volatile Organic Compounds, are found in many products, including rug pads, and can lead to poor indoor air quality causing numerous issues including respiratory symptoms. VOCs can be carcinogenic to human beings. I have been nauseated, dizzy, and cannot get this sickening odor out of my house. I have tried using strong mouthwash, chewing peppermint gum, and drinking peppermint tea but I cannot get that horrific smell out of my nose or respiratory tract that has come from these disgusting Mohawk rug pads. I am grateful to Amazon for refunding my money for the four Mohawk Home Non-Slip Rug Pads, but I am concerned that nothing was done to resolve the real issue, the safety issue of these rug pads. I recommended to Amazon that they take the rug pads off of their site immediately and I am hopeful that they will. I recontacted Mohawk yesterday, March 18, 2024, via email, sending them the Amazon reviews with odor issues as far back as 2020 and the response I got was, "This was from 2020 and these people might have some kind of "allergy" that make them more sensitive to certain things." They have swept the rug pad odor issue under the rug. No pun intended. I am extremely dissatisfied with Mohawk and will never purchase anything from the company again.

Well Worth the Money
I've bought various sizes of this rug pad 4 times over the years as we furnish our house. It is one of the few true nonslip rug pads that don't budge once laid on our wood floors. I also appreciate the thick depth - the 3/8" is just the right height to add some comfiness to otherwise thin rugs without creating a trip hazard. The only downside is trimming the darn thing because it usually has a couple extra inches on one end. Overall, well worth the money.

Perfect for hand woven French Aubusson rugs or similar rugs.
Excellent product. Exactly what I was looking for. Purchased 8x10feet. Didn’t need to trim. Fit perfectly. Do note that it is not made out of rubber or foam so it doesn’t have that “bouncy” feel to it. However It is perfect for a large or small area rug for thin hand woven rugs like my French Aubusson Rugs which is thin and slippery on any hard surface as seen in my pics. Because the rug is thin, this thick felt product provides the perfect amount of support due to its thickness and density for ideal cushioning and floor and rug protection plus the underside facing the floor is anti-slip. Makes vacuuming a Breeze and so much more comfortable to walk on compared to without it. I’ve read some reviews of people saying it doesn’t have the “bouncy” or “spongy” plush feeling they are looking for similar to those in 5-star Hotels. I’ve asked the industrial carpet experts and I’ve been told That What the hotels use as underlay are not felt but Thick Rubber or Foam for that plush “bouncy” feel. And those are also very much more expensive too. So if you are looking for that spongy feel than you should look for their rubber or foam underlays. This one is also sturdy and dense enough for me to place heavy furniture on it without spoiling the rug due to its firm density. Shipped all the way to Singapore in perfect condition. Wasn’t rolled but folded for logistical practicality. The creases And folded areas plumped out and flattened out after 30 mins or so. After more than 2 weeks of use in Singapore’s very hot and humid tropical climate. I checked if the Silicon anti slip side resting against my ceramic floor tiles could have fused or stuck together due to the heat, humidity and weight of the furniture, thankfully it did not. As such I have No regrets getting this. And will order again in future.

Excellent Product
Just set this up and it is perfect. I have a thin rug, similar to cotton rugs from the rug collective and it was always slipping around, and looked bad. This is thick, doesn't slip AT ALL, I have it on laminate flooring. Really happy with the quality of this. The top is rough, so it grabs my carpet and the bottom is grippy, so it hangs onto the floor. I got the 5x8 to put under a 6x9.5 rug. Wish I had gotten a bigger size since I can see where it drops down on the edges from the pad, but the price difference was huge between this size and the size I really needed. This still does what I want and doesn't look bad. Overall would give this product a 10/10.

Size conversion is wrong based on the product description in the title (wayyyyy smaller!)
