Constantly blacks out -- turns out it doesn't "actually" support 2560x1440 (or 1600)
I was looking for a converter for a 2560x1440 monitor, and everywhere this is advertising that it can. Even on Visiontek's own website: "The Mini DisplayPort adapter offers an active conversion and easy connectivity directly without any external power input and is able to handle full dual-link resolutions (up to 2560x1600)."Ah, but it lies to you. Or at least, it's not telling the whole truth in an obvious way. "Integrates Active DisplayPort receiver and DVI transmitter for video format conversion with resolution up to 2560 x 1600 @24-bit."That last little number is key. Most monitors and systems are running at 32 bit -- there is absolutely no reason at all to be running a 24 bit color scheme. At least, that's what I thought. There must be an audience for 24 bit color if Visiontek is making a product for it, but think about it -- you bought a monitor with a resolution greater than your standard 1080p "HD" monitors. You're expecting some serious stuff out of it. Maybe you have a 120/144hz display that needs the extra bandwidth to get your motions that much smoother. Maybe you have a 27 inch Korean IPS monitor. You're going to get these, and then kill what image quality and vividness you might be able to get with 24 bit color? Really? If you try to run 32 bit through this (and remember, Windows 8 no longer supports anything else), the result is a monitor that flickers something resembling a desktop screen, with several seconds of black screens in between the intermittent images.I wasted money on this thing -- I'll invest in a proper adapter instead of this mockery of a product.

Works well at 2560 x 1440 resolution
I'm typing this review at the monitor's full native resolution (2560 x 1440 60 Hz). Perhaps I was just lucky, but the monitor was recognized right away and works perfectly - no flickering or screen artifacts as reported in some other reviews. The adapter isn't exactly cheap, but it's pretty much your only option if, like me, you have one of those Korean monitors with only DL DVI-D inputs. I just hope it lasts... I'd already used a similar adapter (from another brand) that stopped working after a couple of years, so I replaced it with this one.

For dual-link resolutions, look elsewhere.
This adapter did not work with a 2560x1600 Dell 3006WFP, even at only 30Hz.I'm currently using it with a 2560x1440 Qnix QX2710LED, but I had to reduce the refresh rate to 50Hz in order for the image to be relatively stable. About 2-3 times a week the signal will drop until I restart the monitor, and around once a week, the image will flicker and there will be minor corruption of the display for about an hour. While minor annoyances, they do not inspire confidence in the longevity of this device.Cable quality plays a big factor in the resolutions and refresh rates the adapter can handle; the cable that has reliably run the Dell at 2560x1600 for years was not stable with the Qnix 2560x1440 at 30Hz using this adapter.I suspect some of these issues might be power-related. I regret not buying one of the other adapters with an external power source.

works great
Meant to be used with [VisionTek Radeon 7750 2GB GDDR5 6 4k Monitor Graphics Card, 6 Mini DisplayPorts] video card (and other uses I'm sure). Works great right out of the box.

3rd Monitor shenanigan!!!
After acquiring VisionTek 4 monitors card, I ran into a bump. I had an active HDMI cord but when I hooked it to the card, it was not even recognizing it. I had a chat with tech support from VisionTek, I was informed that they sell their own active HDMI. The rest was easy, hooked it, it detected the TV and now I can use it fine now.

Great product, but audio output is not working correctly.
This product is the only one I have found that will allow my AMD Brix Gaming PC (GB-BXA8G-8890) to output 4K @ 30 Hz. I tried the passive Belkin cable and adapter, and neither of them worked for me.The only problem I have had with it is getting the audio to work correctly. It may be a simple setting that I'm missing, but I haven't figured it out yet. Whenever I connect the adapter and plug it into my TV, Windows gives a message that I need to have a secondary connection for Audio output. If I can figure out how to get audio with only this adapter and HDMI cable, I will definitely give this 5 stars.**Update**Audio is now working over mini-displayport+HDMI with a newly released GPU driver update.**Update 2**Audio stopped working again over mini-displayport+HDMI...

Using this helped my Mac Mini befriend my Dell UltraSharp Monitor
There's a bug that I and others have experienced, where a Dell UltraSharp monitor, hooked up to a Mac directly via DisplayPort, prevents the Mac from sleeping properly. Using this adaptor instead of a direct connection fixes the issue! (At least with my late '14 Mac Mini, and Dell U2717D.)EDIT: Hmm, nevermind. Adaptor still works fine, but the benefit I thought I saw regarding the sleep issue seems to have been imaginary / transient.

didn't work for me
Tried it on a samsung s32D850 (DVI,HDMI,DP) on its DVI input from an Nvidia quadro P400 (4xmDP) under win10x64. Nothing - blank screen. The screen used to run from a win 7 PC with DVI only. I find mDP is unreliable - tap the cable and the picture is gone - poor connection. In contrast, DVI is as solid as a rock. Newer need not be better . 3 stars for delivery and quality feel of the product

Excellent mini DisplayPort to DVI-D dual adapter
Works reliably, first time. I am using this to run my LG W3000H monitor from my laptop. The monitor is 2560x1600 60Hz and requires DVI-D dual. This adapter does that from my laptop's mini DisplayPort ( v1.2, I believe ).Remember to use a proper DVI-D dual cable from the adapter to the monitor.

Works great
Bought to drive one of those Korean 27" monitors 2560x1440 that require DVI-D.Connected it to dell WD15 and it worked albeit only with one of my three cables that claim to be DVI-D and that worked with stationary computer.

mDP to DVI-D 144Hz doesn't work at all.
Simply didn't work from a MiniDisplayPort to a 144Hz 1080p monitor. No display at all, not even a low refresh rate. Very disappointed. I have since returned the product.
