Easiest fix, long lasting part
Worked like a charm! Bought and installed it 6 years ago and it's still working. Didn't have to dispose of my refrigerator. Great buy! If the compressor is running, but the appliance is not cooling, then this is usually the fix. The That PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) Start Relay acts as a switch to temporarily power the compressor's start winding. When it breaks, the ceramic disk inside often shatters, causing the compressor to click and fail to start. You can tell if the PTC is broken by removing it and giving it a light shake. If it rattles, then the ceramic disk is broken. Unplugging the refrigerator after long uses often breaks this part because of the expansion / contraction due to temperature changes.

Fixed my Freezer, saved hundreds
When our chest freezer stopped working, I found a YouTube video detailing how to replace a simple relay. The video linked to this product on Amazon, so I ordered it. It was simple to install, and would probably work with most any freezer or fridge if you hear a clicking sound but no cooling is happening. For a few dollars I saved the hundreds. A repair company probably would have charged over a hundred dollars to do what I did for myself, thanks to YouTube and this little relay.

Easy fix for a common problem with many mini-fridges, wine centers and beverage coolers!
Fixed my Vinotemp VT-36S I got from Costco a few years ago. I'd only had it a few years, and one day it started making this weird clicking noise every few minutes that sounded a little like someone thwapping the side of a propane tank. Once this started happening, it would no longer cool, and the compressor would get quite warm. I assumed the compressor had gone bad, and had resigned myself to finding a new fridge, but it seems the vast majority of small fridges like this get bad reviews, or else cost an astronomical sum, so I hesitated. One day, I decided to do some more research on repairing the VT-36S and found that the clicking was symptomatic of a bad starter relay/sensor like this one. Apparently, the compressor has 2 coils, one to start it up, and one used to keep it running. This relay sits on the side of the compressor and has a ceramic disc inside which has some thermo-electric properties that enable it to sense the temperature of the compressor and turn off the start coil as it gets warm. In my fridge, the ceramic disc had shattered, which I hear they are prone to do after a while. At that point, it no longer does its job, and the compressor just gets hot, and then turns off due to an over-temperature sensor that these fridges also tend to have. So, the compressor can never do its job. It was pretty easy to unplug the wires on the relay on my current fridge, pull it off the terminal on the compressor that it sits on, and then pop on the new one and reconnect the wires. Then, I plugged in my fridge, and voila! It started working again! It took a while to get back down to the set temperature, but it's still working now months later. I got a couple of extras just in case this part goes bad again. Be sure to get the right resistance for your fridge. This one is a QP2-4R7 or QP2-4.7, which is a 4.7 ohm type.

Cheap and easy fix!
I work maintenance at a high school. One day, I noticed a magic chef mini fridge marked trash on the loading dock. Out of curiosity, I brought it into my shop. I went on my laptop, and watched some videos on YouTube,on common issues/ troubleshooting. So I got out my trusty multimeter, and set it to the ohm function, and began testing. I removed both the starter relay, and the overload protector, and tested the compressor. The compressor is normally the deal breaker, because it costs as much as a new fridge, if not more! But when I tested the relay, I found my problem. Because the two parts are frequently ordered together, I just went ahead and ordered them both, for around $12.00. When I received the parts, it literally took me longer to open the package, than it did to install them! I anxiously plugged it in, and it came to life! I must admit, itโs convenient to have a fridge in my office now. I love YouTube, and Amazon! For those who think that this may be out of your wheelhouse, think again, itโs simple! You donโt necessarily need a multimeter. Watch a couple of videos, take a few pics when you unplug the two parts, order the correct parts on Amazon, and put it back together. If it doesnโt work, you can always return them for free! I hope that this helps, and that youโre successful. A fridge is a terrible thing to waste!... lol

Just what the doctor ordered!
Acquired a Beverage Center mini wine cooler from my future son-in-law who told me the compressor had gone bad. I almost didn't take it thinking to myself why in the heck do I want a burned out cooler, knowing I didn't really have time to fool with it. Sure glad I took the chance. Upon removing the relay it gave me the telltale rattle of a bad relay. Found this here on Amazon after checking the numbers on it and, lo and behold, the cooler fired up and has worked flawlessly ever since. Btw, I also replaced the overload capacitor since I had it apart to be sure I would have worry-free operation. Only drawback I had was it took a couple of weeks to come in due to it having to come from China but it arrived on time.

Money Saver!
I am pretty handy but do not go into refrigeration at all. Our mini fridge (freezer top, fridge bottom), which was less than 1 yr old, was freezing everything. We unplugged it and let it thaw, then it just would not get anything cold. My husband had reached out to a savvy friend and he said ah! you are better off selling that mini fridge or throwing it away, once they break they are done. I was like hmm.... $200 in less than a year gone bad? So I decided to look around and found a video on YouTube and found a video and the guy explained how about 90% of the times these mini fridges go bad is this Relay/Thermostat part. So I went for it. Figured out how to pull the part out, looked up the number and got it on Amazon for $4. Had nothing to lose, right!? I installed it as soon as it arrived. Super easy by the way. I plugged the thing in and put a couple of things inside to see. A few hours later my husband comes and says....I think you fixed the mini fridge, lol. Well that was a couple of weeks ago and it is still going solid.

This little item saved me a lot of cash
Product arrived in good shape. Exactly as described. This $3 item helped repair my mini fridge. Would definitely buy again. My cooler condensor was hot but motor was not running. Did a search on the internet and was led to this part. Removed the original part from my mini fridge and this is what it looked like inside. (Original part from mini fridge in photos). As you can see from photos the original part from the mini fridge had a round capacitor disk that was shattered. This new part took seconds to install and my fridge is now in perfect working order.
