NO BITES! WOOHOO!!!
I needed an insect repellent and needed it delivered the same day as we were heading to a friend's "cottage" the next morning, and this product was one of the options. I thought I'd give it a try and now, 2 days after returning from the trip have already recommended it to 3 people. This is FANTASTIC!! My son is quite allergic to mosquito bites (once, he had a bite by his left temple and the whole side of his face swelled almost to the point where his eye was swollen shut) so I was pretty nervous about the "cottage" since it is carved out of the deep woods in northern Wisconsin. The cottage was a camper, so we slept in a tent and were outside the entire time - the only clearing of the woods was for the camper, the tent and the fire pit, so mosquitoes were abundant. As soon as we got there I applied this to all exposed skin areas for myself and my son, then used Deep Woods Off on our clothing. My wife opted for Off all over. I applied it at 4pm, went to bed at 11pm. My son came home the next morning with ZERO bites. I came home with one - in the middle of my back (where I had not applied this lotion) and through my shirt (where I had applied Off). My wife came home with about 7-8 bites. PROS: - Goes on like a lotion, so if you do it right you ensure complete coverage, unlike a spray where you could miss (and half of what you spray doesn't land on your skin, anyway). Get under the tops of your socks, up inside your shorts and sleeves, ears, neck, face... - Almost no smell at all. Perhaps a little at first, very mild, but dissipates right away. - You're not inhaling it like you do with sprays. - It lasts. Not sure about 12 hours, but it lasted for us for at least 7 hours - one application. While wearing shorts/short sleeves. CONS: - It feels a bit greasy once it's on. It still feels a bit greasy hours later, but it doesn't look greasy. - Small tubes - only 2 oz. That said, one application covered my and my 7 year old, and I could probably do that at least 2-3 more times out of this one tube. NEUTRAL: - We still had clouds of skeeters buzzing around us. It's not purported to be a magical energy barrier that keeps them from flying all around you, but it does keep them from biting you. - They will still bite where you don't apply it. That's not the fault of the product, it's yours. When putting it on, think like a skeeter - where can they get to? And yes, they bite through fabric so either treat the clothing or treat yourself.

Absolutely recommend, despite the greasy feeling
Bought this for my August trip to Florida and Georgia. Overall, I love it! Cons: Feels greasy, and leaves you looking greasy. Attracts dirt due to the grease layer Slight smell (reminds me of scotch tape, and it doesn't bother me but it is there) Pros: Uhh.... IT WORKS! I was in Savannah Georgia, in a cemetery (Bonaventure, so FULL of lush greenery right next to the river). I was getting smacked in the face and ears by mosquitoes but not one single bite. I call that a miracle, honestly. I was out doing paddle boarding down narrow water ways surrounded by lush foliage in Florida at dusk and dawn- not a single bite. I'm not sure how water resistant this is, since I didn't get into the water while using it. I did, however, sweat profusely due to the humidity and heat but it never seemed to wear off. Also use sunscreen with it without issue. I'm not a fan of it feeling somewhat gross, but I take that over getting bit. I spent 4 days outside in Florida and Georgia and I didn't get bit. I realize I sound like a broken record, but I'm just so amazed. I've used Off Spray in the past (I live in the woods in Texas) and usually still get bit a couple times so it was amazing how much better this worked. I think with it being a lotion, that helps too. I didn't put it on my face since I break out so easily, but I did use it around my neck. No issues. It is small, so if you're going to be gone for an extended time, or be using it on multiple people, then I'd get more than one. It does cover well, though.

Works great, but leaves your hands chemically smelling
Used this product for my trip to Costa Rica and was impressed by it's power. I went for a ton of hikes in the rainforest on my trip and I used this almost everyday. The reason why I know it worked well is because I applied it to most of my body except for one day when I forgot to put it on one of my legs, and I ended up getting 5 bites on that exact leg. The reason why I bought this product in the first place is because it was one of the only repellents I could find that was small enough to bring carry-on on the plane that was not aerosol. Aerosol repellents are not good for the environment and therefore are looked down upon in Costa Rica, and they are also not allowed on the plane, so I knew I needed a lotion that was TSA compliant sized. The bad part about this product is that the smell is very intense and you need to use your hands to apply it (obviously). The good thing about aerosols are that you don't need to apply it onto your hands at all, so you don't have these chemicals and the repellent smell lingering on your hands until you wash it off. This is the reason why I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5.

"Effective Outdoor Defense: A Review of the Insect Repellent Lotion"
I recently tried the Insect Repellent Lotion during a camping trip, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. As someone who loves spending time outdoors, dealing with pesky insects is always a challenge. However, this lotion proved to be a game-changer. Not only did it have a pleasant scent, but it also provided effective protection against mosquitoes and other biting insects. The lotion was easy to apply, non-greasy, and lasted for an extended period. I applied it before venturing into the woods, and I was pleasantly surprised that it kept the bugs at bay throughout my outdoor activities. If you're looking for a reliable insect repellent for your outdoor adventures, this lotion is definitely worth considering.

Peace of mind, Non-Sticky and Super Effective!
In my quest for the perfect bug repellent, I stumbled upon this fantastic bug repellent lotion cream. I prefer lotion over spray because it's not sticky, and this one doesn't disappoint! Despite its small bottle size, a little goes a long way with this powerful cream. A tiny quarter-sized amount is all you need for effective coverage in any area. This bottle will last me quite a while, which is a great value. What sets this cream apart is its incredible potency. Whether I'm hiking or on the farm, it keeps insects and bugs at bay. I've had pleasant, bug-free experiences every time. this bug repellent cream is a compact powerhouse. It's highly effective, non-sticky, and long-lasting. If you're looking for top-notch bug protection for your outdoor adventures, look no further. This cream is a must-have for bug-free and enjoyable outings. Highly recommended!

Works in India!
I was in Kolkata and other rural regions of India along the river and it was hot with humidity like Iโve never experienced before in my life (my socks fused to my LED cured gel toe nail polish if that gives you any idea to the severity). I brought along this mosquito lotion because my travel nurse said this was the only one she would suggest. She was right!! My friends with me got bit a handful of times with some other deet spray they brought, but I did not get bit once the whole week and a half I was there - and the mosquitos were reealll yโall! I was even speaking to a village one night next to the water so they hooked up florescent lights next to and behind me. They wanted everyone to be able to see me but I was getting swarmed by mosquitos because of the lights. I was silently in a panic and tried to inconspicuously move over some, but they were all up in my business. I mean a pretty gross lot of them. I walked away that night without a single puncture. I was super sweaty too which made the thick lotion feel a bit yucky, but I figured it was better to feel a little uncomfortable than get tagged by a mosquito in India. So yes, the lotion is a little thick, but if you truly need the protection, I canโt recommend anything else. I only use this now, even at home (California) and even on my toddler granddaughter. Sheโs a poor little pin cushion, like her grandma, unless I put this stuff on her. When the Ultrathon lotion is on thoโ, she doesnโt get touched. Itโs worth the layer, trust me.

Difficult to remove. Too sticky for use on bike rides. - UPDATED
Well, this stuff really works, and it is very sweat resistant, BUT it's really sticky and REALLY hard to remove. I bought it to wear on long bike rides. I seem to be delicious to insects, especially biting flies and the sprays would sweat off after an hour or so and I'd get eaten alive. So this was the first ride in forever when I didn't get bitten - seriously, I'm not sure how flies can land on me and bite me when I'm riding over 15 mph, but they find a way! So, I didn't get bitten, which was the good news, but by the end of a 30 mile ride I was literally COVERED with gnats and other small insects that stuck to the stuff like flypaper! Plus, I've taken 2 showers, I've scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed, but my skin still feels sticky and I can still smell the stuff. I'm sorta afraid to let my cats near me lest they get deet on them. I may try yet ANOTHER shower to see if I can get it off. Soooo I dunno. If you're in the jungle somewhere and have to worry about malaria or other horrible diseases this would be the ticket. For bike rides and other more casual uses... I'm not so sure. UPDATE 1: Soooo... I bathed AGAIN to try to get the stuff off. This time I soaked in the hottest water I could stand and then scrubbed with dish washing detergent. I was at least able to get rid of the smell, but my skin still feels like it's covered in wax. On the plus side, I may never need insect repellent again since this stuff seems un-removable! I'm sorta thinking this might be a case where the cure is worse than the problem. So suffice it to say that unless I'm gonna go trudging through the jungles of Borneo, I probably won't be using this again! UPDATE 2: Perhaps I'm just stubborn, but I wasn't quite willing to give up on this stuff yet. I tried again using significantly less lotion and had much better results. I used a tiny pea-sized dot for my legs and on 2 separate rides didn't get any bites. The thing is, it's difficult to get an amount that tiny to spread evenly, so I had to mix it with some hippy dippy essential oil insect repellent. The combination of the two worked wonderfully - the oil helped it to spread evenly and I didn't end up with the flypaper effect. Also didn't notice a problem in removing it this way. Still a work in progress, but I'm happier than I was on the first attempt!

Best Mosquito/Biting Fly and Tick Repellent
This stuff is amazing!! Was in Big Cypress and Everglades during a mosquito invasion (and I'm a native Floridian so when I say the mosquitos were psycho I mean it). They were nuts. I used these product along with a mosquito jacket (yes that's how bad they were) and never got a bite. The mosquitos and the biting flies were so bad and aggressive that they were flying in our mouths and eyes so obviously you can't put this product near your eyes, but every where else was essential and was protected. This product works great but keep in mind it is water and sweat proof so when it is on your body it is ON your body. We were all day kayaking and not a single bite in those mosquito infested mangroves. So you would think being all day on the water and sweating your *** off that if would come off. Nope. Never had to reapply. In fact you have to scrub it off if you want it off. I like this about the product. I love the staying power and not having to constantly reapply DEET. It also has a very pleasant smell so you don't smell like bug spray. I am also pleased to say that a little goes a long way. I also had protective clothing on that were treated but the areas exposed definitely would of been bit had I not had this stuff on. Amazing stuff.

Ultraprotector.
