Check the compatibility list and then buy- works for older cameras.
Check the compatibility list. for my Nikon Df , it works with Nikon wireless mobile unit app on iOS but not with the newer snap bridge app. It is slow in transferring files and the LCD live view switches off as soon as you connect this.works quickest with manual focus on the app or using camera to focus. Surprisingly, it is most useful with another app called qDSLRdashboard. That software isa freeware available for Android, Windows and even Mac OS X but not iOS (as yet- at least in the Indian store) It is tiny and handy, I like it but I don't think I will use it much.

Awesome
Bought for Rs.995 for Nikon D3200. For the first day I had to struggle to make it work in sync in downloading pictures from the camera to smart phone. Next day I reduced the no. of pictures to 600 in the camera and viola it was a breeze. The smart phone after syncing will show the pictures in the camera. You have the option to select the pictures and once you hit the download button, the pictures start downloading from the camera to the phone. As a remote operator, you will not be able to utilize all the functions of the camera, only you have to manually zoom to the subject and can release the shutter from the phone. Your smart phone will act as a view-finder and you can immediately see the picture taken. I will mainly use this device to download the pictures to my smart phone which is a easier process when you don't have access to your laptop or PC.

Must for sharing
I am not sure why many people are criticizing this wonderful product. I just got it and loved it. Why I bought this? I have d5200 and using it for two months... Diwali and some other family functions moments were captured in it. The real problem was how do I share pictures without laptop or some cable. Had a tough time to convince ,fb and whatsapp, enthusiasts that I will say send later on. Now with this utility I can share upload pics anywhere without anything else. About the live view.(App feature).. Yes it captures with lag of 1 or 2 seconds... But that's OK. About not adjusting aperture shutter speed etc. I am ok with that. I don't think I need that, just switch to auto mode, I am sure if you want to take pic in manual mode you would like to be behind camera, for quick adjustments, infact even this was given in this app I would have still not used it. The main purpose of mine is solved which was transferring pics. Connectivity... No issues as of now... Last but not the least this is about Adapter not the App, so I will recommend everyone specially with families to use this, your life will become easier. If you are a loner with wild life photography/scenic views/professional then you definitely you do not need this, because you would like to work on RAW files with lightroom/photoshop.

Not a good accessory
The hardware great but the app is not up to the mark. The app only allows you to take pictures wirelessly and view them or/and download them in their original size. While taking pictures your smartphone display becomes the live view and all you can do is take pictures. You can't access you're camera settings such as aperture, shutter speed or iso wirelessly. While the device is connected and your mobile is in the live view mode you can't even access the settings on your camera itself. The display of the camera turns black when the device is connected to your smartphone. You can't even video with camera while using this device. Yes you can see the pictures taken with your camera and even download them on your smartphone in their original size but you can't see or download videos taken with your camera earlier. I hope NIKON updates the app for the best output in the future firmware upgrades.

Anyways WU-1a is a nice device although it hangs out and there are chances ...
Very cute and effective. Responds Quickly, although did not try its full capabilities. This responds to only wi-fi and only a few mobile wi-fi apps are available on googleplay store. In my case only one worked, which can access my Nikon D3300 camera, operate its shutter and download the files to the mobile. But the app is unable to take HDD and time-lapse shots. I am looking for one. If anyone is aware, kindly post the name of the app. Anyways WU-1a is a nice device although it hangs out and there are chances of damage to both camera & the dongle.

Rubbish piece of junk!
It is actually worthless! I am using my it with my D3300 and it is a PAIN to transfer images from my camera to my phone. It takes FOREVER to load the PREVIEW images which you have to select from to start the process of file transfer! The file transfer process itself takes an inordinate amount of time. Remember, this is all happening through WiFi direct and so it is perplexing as to how it is so slow. If the connection gets disrupted even for a moment (and this happens very very frequently) you have to RESTART the whole process right from reloading the PREVIEW images!! Also, once you manage to download the pics, you realize that it is only a downsized jpeg image and not a full size jpeg image. Forget about downloading the RAW files! Also, the live view function rarely works on this! A better alternative is to buy an OTG card reader and connect it to your mobile to read your sd card directly. It is infinitely faster, reliable and less frustrating. On my last few trips, I could kill time in th hotel room or even dreary bus journeys on the Isle seat by loading files onto my phone using an OTG SD card reader and editing my photos on the go or even sharing them on social media. An IR remote and a time-lapse remote complete anything else you probably wanted to do with this piece of junk! Nikon has no clue as to what it needs to develop to remain competitive!

Excellent Product On Go.
Superb product, works very promptly and instantly, between DSLR and Mobile or Tablet...i use both (one at a time). This is mainly excellent to send immediate pictures taken from DSLR via net to any social sites, even from RAW picture it coverts to send able images through smart product.Nice small thing to have on the go while trecking or a weekend to showcase your pictures at a whink. One star taken due to its limitation which i felt being a photographer,it can not transfer a RAW file suppose 1 picture (approx 26mb) to smart device in the same size,as i require them for post process later. It automatically reduce the picture size 2mb to 3mb max only leaving the option for net uploading.Hope you get my point.

Very good accessory
Must have for Dslr without wifi..few points ! You have to download Nikon WMU app in your android or iOS device, works in both ! Pic quality, I mean da file size drop down when u transfer through wifi ! Not wifi compatible with windows laptops u have to transfer via sad card or cable ! Very handy, small size comes with a case which can b attach to the dslr tag line ! Another option is wifi sd cards, but believe me wmu is cool a device and wifi cards have limitations it cannot remotely control dslr while wmu can.

Exactly what I wanted
I ordered this WU-1a to use with my shiny new D3300. I'm a total novice to DSLRs, but I wanted to be able to snap a photo and then be able to view and edit it on my iPad, since my laptop is currently thrashed. iPads notoriously have no ports for memory cards, hence the need for the wireless adapter. -How big is it? It's a little bit bigger than my thumbnail at the base. It's really not very big. Since it's so small, it doesn't really add weight or bulk to the camera, which is nice. -Does it drain my battery? I don't leave mine attached for extended periods of time. Instead, it comes with a nifty little carrying case that attaches right to your camera strap. I plug it in when I want to transmit photos, and unplug it otherwise. Since it's not constantly transmitting, the battery drain is minimal enough that I don't notice a difference between regular use and use with the wireless unit. -Is it easy to install? Yep! The instruction manual is ginormous. Most likely because it's written in several languages. I didn't even unfold it all the way (oops!) and instead, I plugged it in and looked at the instructions for attaching the included carrying case to the camera strap. After that, it was just installing the app and then connecting. If I had to pick a step that was the hardest, I would say connecting was it. It was still a snap, since I followed the advice of previous reviewers and put my phone/iPad in airplane mode and then enabled only the device's wifi network. -Does it work? YES! Within 5 minutes of the mailman handing me my Amazon package, I had wirelessly transferred 120 photos to my iPad. It's that easy. I've seen other reviewers complain about long transfer times, but I was able to transfer my photos in seconds. 50 photos takes about 15 seconds. As far as I was able to tell (novice, remember?) the photos didn't lose any of their sharpness or contrast, and the file sizes were the same as they were on the camera. -Would you recommend this? Absolutely. It works exactly how I want it to, and reliably. I got exactly what I was looking for, and would recommend this product to a friend.

WU-1a: Great hardware, poor Nikon App but there is a better App available!
Bought this to use with a Nikon D7100 DSLR. I also downloaded the free Nikon App to run on an Ipad/Iphone. The little adapter is really small, it fits on a 2p coin without going over the edge of the coin anywhere. Managed to get a connection to my Ipad with no problems and connected the Nikon app also with no problems. I did notice that by default the WU-1a created an open un-secured link. You can create a password protected connection using the Nikon Ipad app (this feature seems poorly documented) but it would seem to be too easy for a new user to leave the link un secured and presumably anyone could connect to your camera if you have the WU-1a plugged in and you are not using it yourself! I noticed a few connection problems when I first used this (dropped connections) but an internet search provided a possible solution that seemed to work for me which was to turn off Bluetooth on the Ipad. Dont know if this would work for everyone. The Nikon App is VERY basic and only allows you to download pictures and also acts as a very basic shutter release although you can get live view on your ipad. I had a look around on the net and found an app called QDSLR Dashboard (google it) that works on ipads, Iphones, PCs etc. This is MUCH better and will connect to the WU-1a allowing full wireless control of the camera settings including aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc as well as having a lot of other features. The PC version was free but the Ipad app does have a small cost, but was worth it. QDSLR Dashboard makes the WU-1a much more useful for me. The WU-1a is now a great buy! I actually quite like the concept of physically "unplugging" the wifi capability on a camera. I was never entirely happy with built in WiFi on cameras as I could never be 100% sure that it was deactivated when I didn't want to use it, but that's just me and my slightly paranoid attitude to these things!
