AmazonBasics Rooftop Car Carrier Bag, Black, 15 Cubic Feet

I purchased it in Sept 2018, till today it is in good working condition. We tried it on our wagnor car in mansoon season while going to our village, it is 100 % waterproof.

Have been using this for over 2 years now. Not a single issue till date. Chains and belts intact. Used for heavy and bulky luggage and normal luggage as well on my ertiga. It does its job super awesome once you get used to how to use it. Highly dependable and recommend.

First of all this is a great product, nice finish, zipper, velcro, straps and the bag itself is top notch.Now that we have that out of the way, the seller and/or their marketing team has scored a self goal by wrongly marketing this as a "roof rail / rack or carrier only" product. On the contrary if the carrier is already there, I may not need this at all. The main purpose / need for this product is if the roof rack / carrier is not there and this is achieved by attaching hook straps that are supposed to come along. But guess what, either due to cost cutting or marketing flaw, the hook straps have been done away with resulting in 99% of prospective buyers either ordering from the competition or returning it after placing an order. This can be simply ascertained by looking at the number of returns, in fact I almost did the same. However curiosity got the better of me and some research led me to the after markets straps and voila! The bag fits snug and tight and does the job it is supposed to do, which is to serve the purpose when a roof rack or carrier is not installed!!

This is the most awesome product I have ever bought from Amazon. I put it on my SUV roof and did a road trip of 3000KMs. Traveled through all kinds of road and weather in plains as well as hills. Did not face a single issue/botheration with the luggage. Not a single grain of dust went inside the bag, my luggage looked as good as new when I got them out of the bag. Initially it took me 45 minutes to figure out the best way to place the luggage and get it safely loaded and secured. 2nd time onwards I started getting more efficient and finally it was taking us 15 mins to secure luggage and 5 mins to unload. The quality of materials used is top grade - very strong and robust. The zips are very strong and appear waterproof. The extra flap on the zips with Velcro fastening ensures no water slips through. The Nylon ties and buckles are also very strong and helps to secure the bag firmly on the roof carrier. Doesn't move a millimetre once buckled. I carried three heavy suitcases and couple of small duffel bags in it.Note: This bag cannot be used without roof rails/carrier - the straps need to pass around the rail and come back to the latch. Even if you manage to secure the bag in some innovative way, the danger of your car roof getting dented by the weight of the luggage is always there. So without roof rail or carrier you shouldn't use this bag.

I brought it for a travel plan for 5 days with my 8 members family in my scorpio. I am taking time to just drop my review after using this in my travel.I had to go through different places with various climate changes where this product went through daunting Sun and heavy rains. I am impressed by the product and it is just value for money.1. Product quality is too good material, Zip, Welcro and straps are durable2. No way water could get inside the Amazon basic3. Easy to use. Easily fits 5 medium sized suitcases or 6 to 8 duffle bags4. It freed up lot of space within my SUV5. Straps made it easy to wrap and unwrap the luggage on top with no hassles of tying with ropeTime taken for the first time packing was an hour for me. 2nd day we took 30 mins. And after that with a fair idea to organize things we packed and locked within 10mins.Advice to use it with a luggage carrier on your SUV.

Travelling made easy if you need to use a luggage carrier. The material is sturdy and strong, don't expect itll give up anytime soon. Being waterproof really keeps your mind at peace. If correctly fitted on the carrier keeps the luggage super secure. Installing it and taking it off is easy as well because of all the buckles. Just one thing, tie your strap ends before starting the journey the straps keep flapping on the car body and makes noise. A thousand times better than a conventional tarp and rope system that works in india.

I used this on a 3000 kms long road trip in April 2018 along the western coastline. We traveled from Pune - Goa - Malpe - Mangalore - Coorg - Wayanad - Coimbatore - Mysore - Bangalore - Hubli - Pune in Ertiga with a roof carrier and all the luggage (3 large bags, 1 90 ltrs rucksack, camping tents, sleeping bags) was in the carrier bag through the 13 days long trip.The bag held snugly to the carrier, with ergonomically designed straps, no issue on that front with unexpected slipping or movement. It handled the weather extremities quite well. We drove through rain, thundershower, scorching sun, fog. Experienced no trouble at all.[Edit] After eight months and two more trips (4k kms), my reliance of this wonderful bag is deepened and I highly recommend to those who have the wanderlust in them.I have answered many questions pertaining to the use, summarized as below. a) The bag can be used on any car with either roof rails or rack installed on it. b) It is advisable to use a rack/carrier system. Do not place heavy loads directly on the car roof. c) The straps are strong and the buckles hold hard. They can be cinch tightened so that undesirable slipping or movement is restricted. d) Whenever loading, try to load as flat as possible. The bag adds approximately 12-15 inches to your car, plus a couple of additional inches of the rack/carrier system. Extra height may shift the center of gravity. So be careful.

It is very useful , I would have given full marks but then it got burst open in a glue joint corner thereby creating some inconvenience for my return trip. I am still waiting to hear about warranty part from Amazon basics.

This cargo bag went from BC to NS in 7 days, but spent a total of around 40 days on my roof. It got coated with bugs, saw torrential downpour, 30°C heat, even a hurricane upon arriving to NS. But you best believe everything inside was okay! Mind you, I packed my cargo with vacuum sealed bags of clothes so they were bound to be okay either way. I'll say the straps could be a bit longer! The front/back ones were too short to connect that way in my case, which is why they also go to the side. However, my crossbar placement does play a factor in that. I had placed them quite narrowly spaced so that the bag would lift off the roof completely, allowing better aerodynamics and the use of my sunroof! For anyone looking to do the same, I cut a half inch piece of wood board just long enough to extend a few inches past each cross bar while still being smaller than the inside dimensions of the bag, roughly 30in×15in. (I didn't want to risk a hard edge ripping the bag). I placed the board inside the bag and filled it in place sitting on the roof. I used a ratchet strap going lengthwise around the cargo bag and cross bars to help prevent any possible front to back shifting, to make up for the fact those straps didnt reach the bars. It all held up amazingly, I never had to readjust the straps! Also, the bugs washed off very easily.

Found this by chance whilst looking for roof boxes, and I’m really glad I did! Great value for money and does the job just as good. Huge capacity for all our stuff and more. I purchased the non slip mat to put down first and then straps easily clip on the rails. Not felt any movement on the car or instability. Folds down really small into a bag perfect for storage when not in use!

Solidnie wykonana i pojemna torba. W przypadku niewielkiego auta (jak moje Suzuki Ignis III) konieczne jest odkręcenie anteny radiowej więc albo torba, albo słuchanie radia 🙂 Poza tym pasuje dobrze - mieści się akurat między relingami.

Testé sur + 600 kms avec du grand vent, de la forte pluie, rien à dire. Le coffre de toit n'a pas bougé et pas eu besoin de mettre un tapis en dessous. (véhicule avec deux barres latérales)Vraiment pratique car se range facilement après utilisation et il prend peu de place. Facile à mettre en place, prévoir 30 bonnes minutes pour régler les sangles. Une fois les sangles réglées au véhicule, se ré installe facilement.Je n'ai pas remarqué de consommation de carburant supérieure à d'habitude.Une fois bien sanglé, le coffre de toit n'est pas trop bruyant.Je suis étonnée par la solidité, l'étanchéité et la capacité de rangement.Je recommande vraiment l'achat de cet article
