The averil is a twist on the classic feminine-yet-tough persephone heeled boot by Dr. Martens. The ankle boot features a padded ankle, 6-eye lace fastening and an empowering four-inch platform heel. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Bad bish boots
My heart went !!KA-THUMP KA-THUMP!! when I saw these. I couldn't control myself. That was when I knew I had to have it. I put it in my cart and watched it all day contemplating on whether or not to make the purchase. By the end of the day, I made the purchase and I felt so much relief, as if I did something right. They arrived today and they look sexy af in the box, they look even better on! The material and craftsmanship is beautiful. Grips the ground very well, comfortable to walk in. I'm usually 7 1/2 us size, but these don't come in half sizes. These are european sizing so it's a half size bigger than the usual US size and so 7 fits just perfect. They will look great with anything. I am 5'3 and with these on I feel like a bad ass goddess. One that can kick loads of butt and save the world. I wasn't blessed with long legs, but these make my legs look slender and long! I feel like a bad bish with them on. Swag is def elevated. Confidence is def also elevated. What woman doesn't want to feel these feelings though? I've never owned a pair of shoes that made me feel this way before, let alone one that made my heart race just by looking at it. I don't even wear heels like that, but I will wear these at any opportunity. Ladies, yall don't need to think so much about it, just do it. Make the purchase because it's worth it. When I die, put my doc marten averils on me and bury me with it because I want to be a bad bish in the afterlife too. Ayyeee!!

Super cute and fashionable boot!
Love these boots! Make the perfect fashion statement. I will say that I should have worn a thicker sock with them as they would have been more comfortable if I had. They are boot after all. I work at Amazon and do a good bit of walking between buildings. They were not terrible the first day. I can tell it's going to take a few wears to break them in. However the look is perfect and the leather is really nice. I love that it is not shiny. This is also my first pair of Doc Martens so I didn't really know what to expect. Overall really enjoy these. Also I feel the need to mention that I wear a size 11 and they don't make my feet look like land Yachts so that is a definite plus. LOL

I wear 6 1/2 to 7 in women's US my feet are wide and I am flat footed. I got size 7 and they fit perfect and so comfortable!

No box. True to siZe. Feels weird.
These boots fits perfect. It is true to size. I kinda thought dr martens were suppose to be way comfortable, but for some reason these boots are not as comfortable as expected. I have other boots that are more comfortable than these pairs and these are supposed to be dr martens.I also do not like how I did not receive a shoe box with this item. It just came these boots in an amazon regular brown box with packing paper. I usually like to put my shoes in its original shoe box for keeping when it’s not being worn, and if these were “fake” dr martens or if these were “used or new” I wouldn’t know cause I never owned a pair personally and cause I do not even have its original packaged box.

Perfect!
Loveee! Wasn’t sure if they were going to fit because I’m a size 6 in women’s US. But I know for the Dr Martens 1460s I am a size 4. Went on instincts and reviews and got these in a size 6 and it worked out perfectly! New and came with box. Fast shipping.I wore these outside so if the bottoms look dirty that’s why. I am very happy with these! Now for the break in process... :)

Silent squishy grippy outsole we love
Cherry red, perfect. Patent shine, brilliant. Slight color gradient on toe, superb. Tongue (eyelets and laces) a bit stiff, but breaking in nicely. Padded roll at top comfy on calf and shin. Tongue even notched at top to allow comfortable forward flex of stride, without digging into shin. I'm usually US 8.5 or EURO 39/40. I opted for roomier 40, which is a little long in the toe, but thicker socks resolve the issue. Super comfy insole and outsole, as we come to expect from Docs.

Doc Martin has done it: Comfortable & Cute!
After knee surgery for a snapped ACL almost 2 years ago, I realized I was no longer comfortable wearing the heals I had plus my shoe size went up from a 9 to a 10 due to arches falling a bit. I wanted a nice pair of boots that were good quality, sturdy & could be dressed up or down. And they needed to be feminine looking. I was really worried I wouldn’t be able to handle the heal on these, but I also recalled how comfortable my Doc’s back in my high school days were & decided I’d give these a try.I wore these not only for walking around but also for traveling on a family road trip & the comfort is definitely what makes the Doc Martins name! Plus, I got many positive comments on my boots everywhere we went!As they are leather, there is a little wear that needs to be done to break the leather in as there is a part around the ankle that puts a little pressure due to stiffness of the leather, but it’s already softening so that won’t be an issue beyond this month.Really happy with these, my knee never bothered me & they look great with jeans & a nice shirt to dress up or just a tshirt to dress down for travel. Looking forward to many happy wears in these - if they’re anything like my old Docs that I’ve had since the early 90’s that are still in good condition, these will last a while!

chunky boots of my dreams
I love Dr. Martens. I love a good bootie. This is both, in one fabulous, cute, ass-kickin', stompin' shoe. Got a hefty amount of height and weight, so maybe not for everyone to wear alllll day long, but I rocked them for a music conference with 8+ hour on my feet and survived. They can look a little punk or femme or business or whatever you like, depending on what you pair it with. They made me feel sexy and tough, which is a lot for a shoe. They keep selling out on the Doc's website, so grab them now!

Love these boots. But they need wearing in, so if buying for a particular event order in advance and wear round the house. Look great and as expected.
