Big Max and the Mystery of the Missing Giraffe (I Can Read Level 2)

A pair of keepers
In 1965, Kin Platt's "Big Max," illustrated by Robert Lopshire, was published. It was a simple text, happily illustrated, the type of book a child will enjoy having read again and again. Four decades later "Big Max and the Mystery of the Missing Giraffe," illustrated by Lynne Cravath sees poshumous print. Oh, the titles are similar enough. Switch the elephant for the giraffe. Happily, Big Max still travels by umbrella, keeps his clues guarded, and saves the day without accepting pay. Perhaps he is independently wealthy. Anyhow, Cravath's illustrations, while her own, nicely complement those of Lopshire. Both titles deserve a place in school, public, and personal libraries. Both are keepers.

Cute book
My 5 year old son said that he made a decision and wants to be a detective when he grows up so I ordered a couple Big Max books. They seemed to be the most age appropriate detective book. This is a very cute book with the case of the missing giraffe. The character names are cute and Big Max is so cute as he flies around with his umbrella and uses his magnifying glass to search for clues. This book is creative and silly and perfect for a 5 year old boy. My son likes these books and has a new interesting way of pretending he's a detective now.

My daughter loves it, but it's a little too ...
My daughter loves it, but it's a little too out there for me to want to read to her. But hey, it brings a smile to her face every time, so I can't complain!

Great Level 2 Reader
This is a great book for beginning readers. It is written far better than a lot of other Level 2 readers based on a superhero or tv character. a little long but holds the reader's interest. My son was getting a little tired of reading but needed to finish the story so he would know how the mystery was solved. I would love to get more Big Max books.

Great, funny, easy to read...
My son (5) really enjoys the Big Max stories... They are silly (in a good way), cleverly written, unique, and just the right level for a reader who is still learning. They also involve mysteries which are interesting yet simple enough for little ones to appreciate. I would recommend it for about ages 4-8 probably. This is (I believe) the second in the series (maybe third).

mal was anderes!
