Canadian, not UK
Was disappointed that this is a guide for Canadian beaches, which I didn’t realise. OK, geology is geology, of course, but it does vary in different parts of the world!

GREAT idea, well executed!
This is a very understandable--and geologically accurate--guide to "geology" as most of us find it--in pebbles and other rocks that we pick up along our hikes and explorations. Written for east coast lithologies (rock types) this is a lucid, understandable, but not overwhelming, succinct guide to understanding the pebbles found in and around many New England streams--and also in the abundant glacial tills of the area. Covers the basics of what the rock is made of, and how OLD it's likely to be--and of course, what it's called. It's fun, it's portable, and it's a great field companion for kids (AND adults) on any hike--or even a stroll around the back yard.

Lots of info in a easy to pack booklet
Got this for the family that likes to rock hound. Makes it easy to identify rocks on the go. Kids like it and they can look up different rock easy. Makes it easy for me also. We live on the west coast of Canada and we have most of the rocks that are in this guide but obviously not all. If you’re interested in rocks and looking for a compact booklet then this is probably the best you’ll find. I shopped around and your other options are thick books.

Slim pamphlet, great resource for anyone who wants to know more about those cool pebbles on the beach
Short and sweet. Great pictures and guidance about how to examine the features of your pebble. Slim, lightweight, water resistant card stock to survive many trips to the beach and still look pretty.

great pictures
My 4th grade students use this field guide to identify many of the rocks in their annual rock collection project. The pictures are great and easy to reference. My only issue is that the price is a little steep for something so small.
