IceCap K1-Nano Protein Skimmer, Aquarium Filter, PVC, Acrylic, 5.91 x 2.75 x 15.75 inches

I received the k1 yesterday and hooked it up in my fluval 13.5 (It does fit in the middle chamber sideways but you cant use the mounting bracket but its in there snug). this is skimmer #3 i have tried on my nano tank and wow what a difference. 5 min into turning it on i was getting good skim so i cant wait to see how well it works once its broken in. As for the sound which was a big worry form some other reviews i read. let me start by saying i have never owned a silent skimmer EVER and i have had about 7 being in this hobby. That being said its relatively quiet. If you are the only one in the room and there is nothing on but the tank you can hear it but to be honest i expected that. but its one of the quietest skimmers i have ever owned that has actually worked. i have owned some really quiet skimmer....... but they don't do much of anything. This thing is super easy to adjust and put together. the only other thing i noticed was some micro bubbles. I was bad when i first started it but by this morning there were barely any but this to be expected as it has not broken in yet. Ill give an update in a few weeks. but over all i LOVE this thing.

Definitely a used skimmer does not have original air intake skim cup oring is very loose but the skimmer seems to work. I would return but need to get a skimmer going so I am going to source my own o ring and make it work. I highly recommend purchasing elsewhere

I ordered this skimmer for my 4 month old Waterbox 20 Nano tank to help with controlling my nutrient export. I was not happy at first because the construction of the skimmer was not that great.The round plastic holder that was supposed to be glued to the skimmer broke off very easy while I was trying to adjust the flow of the skimmer. I was able to use super glue to reconnect it, and now it is breaking in rather nicely!It does have a slight humming sound which has gotten better after running for a few days. However, in just a few days, my water clarity is way better, and it is producing a lot of brown skimmate!For Waterbox 20 owners, please be advised that the skimmer will only sit on the top of the rim due to the small size of the back chamber! As you can see from the pictures, I just have the connected magnet sitting on the top of the back rim.Once I got it tuned to the right water level, it is now working like a champ! As a word of advice, adjust the water level inside of the skimmer to 1 inch below the bottom of the skimmer cup! This will prevent it from spilling over so easy until you break it in! I gave it 4 stars due to the poor construction when I initially received it.

I have this skimmer in my Biocube 32 and it works 10 times better than the Tunze I had in the middle section previously. I run and an In-Tank mod also in the middle chamber with filter floss and media, but the skimmer easily fits next to that. It is easy to dial in skimmer and within 24 hours it was pulling out brownish gunk. You have to lower the water level in middle chamber to about 1/2 way down for it to work well, which also allows you to CLOSE THE HOOD! I placed the magnet to hold it in place on the divider between middle chamber and return pump chamber. Definitely worth the money.

Works great but it’s to loud ! I’m hoping after a week of use it gets quiet. Rediculously loud !!

Collection cup cone chipped and jagged at mouth. Mouth of body where collection cup attaches is jagged also. This one slipped by in quality control. I don’t have the time to wait for returns to replace so I’ll run this and buy a tunze.

This skimmer is a great value for what it is priced, break in period was about 2 hours. It is adjustable with the intake valve located next to skimmer cup. Currently using this on a IM 20G dropoff (The original ones) It is a very tight fit - unable to use supplied magnet with this, but again due to it being a tight fit it just holds itself in place!Owned for about a month - No issues, micro bubbles for about 2 hours, upgraded from an eshopps nano skimmer, this k1-nano is quiet and pulls lots of waste.
