Read this review: I've had similar issues, yet different, than others. Updated 2/26/22
I've ordered three of these and so far one has had to go back because of complaints others had here. Number two may not be far behind. We have several different brand robot vacs and they're really not that different from each other, but all the ones we had were black. We recently moved into a new house with white floor casings (moldings) and noted that in our old house the black ones left some black scuff marks on the casings on the occasions they might bump them so we wanted to go with a white product in the new house. On January 25 we ordered one, very quickly received our first white Deebot, and quickly put it to work. It works AWESOME so we ordered another one so we could run two to effectively pick our our yellow labs shedding fur. I've run this original one twice a day somedays and its great...so far. On January 28, I ordered the second IDENTICAL deebot via Amazon's "Buy it again" feature. This one was filthy upon arrival with dust all over it, and long hair both in the brush and the collection bin with a bunch of dust there as well. Further, although it was in identical box depicting a white debit, this one was black. We immediately returned it with no issue...love that about Amazon. On February 11, I ordered another white Deebot. It was clean, and at a glance, I saw no issues. I charged it up and put it to work. It worked well, but the brush at the vacuum port kept popping off. Not a lot, but at least once a run. Today, I decided to trouble shoot it and noted VOILA, my other Deebot has a little cage that keeps the brush in place. This one did not. Issue identified. Rather than return this one too, I called Ecovac (Deebot Parent Company) about 10 minutes ago because they advertise a really good warranty. I went through the usual providing of my name, the model number, phone number etc and here's the order of events. First - I was urged to return it. I was like, "Really? You can't just fire me off a $1 part?" I was told I could buy the part, but for warranty replacement I needed to take further steps. Second - Having received a "no" to request #1, I was directed to email proof of purchase to Ecovac. I told the man I would screenshot it right then and there on my phone and text or email it directly to him. Nope. I was given a ticket number and told I had to send the requested info in and wait for a response. I was promised that he would look for it to arrive, and that he or someone else would get back to me in a few hours. Third - I'll update you to see how this goes. So far, these are minor issues, but they're adding up. Minor quibbles, but minor quibbles I don't need, and have not experienced with my other machines (Amarey 800s and 900s). UPDATE 2/26/22: The day following my submission, I received confirmation they had what they needed and were sending it to the correct department for review. A couple of days later, I received a tracking number and that the part was sent, and that I was getting an additional main brush to go with it. Awesome, I thought, cuz they do wear out over time. I thanked them via email only to get a response that it was a mistake, and that only the brush cover was sent. I asked a manager to contact me. A day later, I got a call. OK...so I got the warranty item in the mail after 5 or 6 days and it fits. They're also sending me a main brush so I'm updating my review to 4 Stars. Both of the two remaining Deebots are now working beautifully and do a great job, but I'm not looking forward to dealing with warranty service again if needed.

Revused again: ECOVACS honored warranty. Revised: malfunctioning after 3.5 months.
Second revision: I contacted ECOVACS customer service. They said it’s under warranty for a year, as long as I had proof of purchase. Sent them my Amazon receipt and machine. They sent me back a new vacuum in about a week. Good on you ECOVACS! My original review is below, but I am revising this in April 2023. I bought this in jan 2023. Three and one/half months later, it is malfunctioning and making a tremendous racket. Cleaning the brushes and other parts I can get to doesn’t help. The problem seems to be in the mechanism that turns the brushes. If I remove the brushes, it runs quietly. But the minute the brushes are out back in, the noise begins. I contacted the seller and their response was basically “too bad”. They gave me “tips” on how to clean the vacuum, which is no help. I already do all the things they recommended. But why bother giving me tips on how to clean the thing when it no longer works!!!! I will not buy from this seller again. This is my second Deebot N79. My old one, which is 4.5 yes old, still runs and picks up dirt like crazy, but stayed making a squealing noise that I can’t fix by cleaning or adjusting anything. So, figured it was time for a new one. I have vinyl floors, no room to room carpet, but I do have small throw rugs one one 5x7 area rug. The Deebot does a great job on all of them except the area rug. It does “ok” on the area rug, but the pile is a little too high for the Deebot to do as well as an upright vacuum. I have three dogs, one of which is a shedder, and I run the Deebot nearly every day. I hope this new Deebot works as well and lasts as long as the old one did with daily use! The N79 is one of the least expensive eco vac models, but as good a job ad it does, I don’t see a reason for me to even think about more expensive ones. Plus, both my Deebot are much quieter than the two roombas I had some years ago.

Wifi doesn't work on it
PLEASE READ!!!!!!! I literally never write reviews, but this one is a major flaw in the design and I have proof it has to be on all of them. The WiFi will not connect no matter what you do even with the 2.4Ghz band on. The reason I suspect that they are aware of this and don't fix is because my sister bought one as well, same model after I told her about it and hers too has a WiFi issue. If you want a vaccum that does the job for just vacuuming your home, go for it. For that, this one is great for the price. But the whole point behind it is to be able to set it up to WiFi so you can program your schedule or even start it when you want anywhere. That is where the major flaw is in this one and do not recommend it if you want a WiFi quality setup. My old Deebot I had a long time ago before I gave it to my parents had wifi and worked flawlessly, so you can see to my disappointment as being a long Deebot customer that this one totally feel swindled by it. I can tell you it's a design flaw because I myself am an RF engineer and used a VNA and a Spectrum Analyzer to view this thing. My WiFi has about a -25 dBm around the actual vacuum and the signal from the Transceiver on the Deebot is getting close to noise floor at time of about -100d and then you see blips where you see it go to probably max -60 dBm, AROUND a strong WiFi signal. That tells me this thing was designed in a band where there is too much interference and it's also causing standing wave issues, which is why it won't connect. Once you have standing wave issues, your SOL.

Cleans Adequately, But It Turns On by Itself!
The cleaning is adequate on hardwood and low-pile carpet. It even cleans under the wall heaters well. Emptying the bin is easy. Removing long human hair from the brushes is not difficult. But it recently started turning itself on at 10:50 PM ... I have cleared the "Bell" indicator from the remote according to the user manual, and that should stop it, but it still starts to clean at night. I never used the app - I downloaded it, but it expected me to set up an account and hand over email addys, so I deleted it. ADDING: Despite trying all the solutions offered by the manufacturer's support team, including removing the battery for over an hour, the vacuum still starts itself at the same time every night. The seller (PaintingSBS) will not replace it, is not accepting returns. ADDING MORE: The manufacturer's support team is great. I got a pre-paid return postage and the replacement robot is on its way.

Scheduling with Ecovac app
This is my third Deebot. They are a good value and work very well. The only flaw is scheduling. I have had 3 different units over the years. They are off by 12 hrs, and on this newer model there's no reset button. The instructions given by Ecovac does not change the internal clock on the unit. The solution was to return the unit, not a good solution being close to Christmas. Taking the battery out and reconnecting might be a solution. Another way if you want to activate the vacuum at 08:00, schedule it for 20:00 on the same day and it will start at 8:00 AM on that morning
