This King Ice Bear 8000 Stone came really flat with a quality 8000 Grit surface for my finishing needs, it was very simple to get a great finish on my knives the were first sharpened on a King 1000/5000 combo Stone. The seller The Peck Tool Company was quick to ship my stone and the stone was well protected for it's shipping. If one needs a quality finishing stone this King Ice Bear 8000 is it.======I have been using this new King Ice Gold Stone and i can say now it really does a great job, of obtaining a really sharp edge on my knife blades i highly recommend this King finishing stone.

Amazing stone
This stone is amazing. It’s a little softer than my 6k King Stone. Whatever microscratches were left on the steel after the 6k looked completely gone after this stone. The blade in the attached image is reflecting my chandelier and the pic looks photoshopped, but its real. Thats how good this stone is.

Razor Edge
Shipped rather quickly. I believe I had it within two days of the purchase date. With only a few weeks experience, I'm a rather novice knife, axe, and hatchet sharpener. I didn't check the stone to see if it was perfectly flat with a straight edge. I have used the stone on two hatchets, a knife, and my 26" 1.75lb camping axe. It does a rather nice job. It gave my Swedish Mora knife-edge a rather handsome mirror like finish that effortlessly slices through paper. I would buy this stone again. I've not explored other knife sharpening methods, so I only have experience with whetstones.

Yes - still no extensive use, but prefer it ...
Yes - still no extensive use, but prefer it already to my 6k stone. The ha stands out in both cases, but the ji looks more natural with the light ivory cast of the 8k icebear when compared to the light tan of the 6k stone. Gunmetal grey of the ji is more prominent.

Great for inexpensive stones and very popular in Japan
I own about every stone in the book, from j-nats, synthetics, coticules, BBW'S, Eschers you name it I got it and use these more than anything. Even over my shaptons, to Choseras, to Naniwas, these are cheaper and will cut up to VG 10. Get the 4, 6, and 8k and you won't go wrong.

8000 Grit Waterstone
Compared to the Norton waterstones this works about the same. It is able to cut away metal easily and give a professional finish to the edge of any knife that you use it with. I generally stop at the 8000 grit to end my sharpening and honing process. It works well on all metal types and the stone doesn't get easily clogged with metal shards so it is good to use for a long time.

but it is a great stone!
Used on my straight razor before CrOx on a strop. Cuts quick for 8000K, and it is truly 8000k grit waterstone. A bit soft for a stone, but a little care in use is all that is needed. Not as pricey as others, but it is a great stone!
