This stuff is great - here’s how to dissolve it
Bought this as a replacement for the brand named stuff that is full of sugar and orange coloring. It works really well, but there is a trick to dissolving it. It dissolves in cold water but clumps heavily. It doesn’t dissolve in hot water but if stirred will form a suspension. So, put it in a cup, add a little boiling water (1/4 full) and stir vigorously with a fork, then add cold water in a stream while stirring. This will cause it to dissolve smoothly.

Mixes easily
Warm 4oz glass of water in microwave and add 1 tsp methylcellulose and stir in another 4oz water. It's essentially tasteless, without the lousy citrusy flavor of Cirucel, which I don't tolerate well. Half price.I combine this with one dose of Clearlax in the afternoon/evening. Moderation works.

Essential for Vegetarian/vegan "meats"
This binder does wonders for vegan burgers, "not" dogs, vegan meatloaf etc. It is plant based and routinely used in food manufacturing. This is also the cheapest price I have been able to find. An essential ingredient in a vegetarian/vegan kitche.

Great for regularity. Doesn't have anything bad in it.
SO grateful for this product. Using it for regularity. A couple teaspoons a day seems to work for me. Methyl Cellulose is the active ingredient in Cirtrucel but without all the bad stuff like citric acid which really irritates my bladder! You have to add water that is a little warm and stir, stir, stir, stir, stir, stir,..... and drink! Doesn't have a taste so that's fine with me. You could probably add honey or stevia or something if you need to but I have no problem with it. Doesn't make me bloaty or gassy either and I have Irritable Bowel with constipation tendencies. I take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Thank you for this product!!!!

Kind of hard to use for regularity, but...weight loss!
I build a tolerance to fiber, whether its in the food or psyllium supplements. So Im looking for a tendency breaker and figured let me do pure methylcellulose instead of Citrucel which seems weak. This does the job but spoon stir creates clumps. Blender and handmixer creates foam.BUT, 2 big tablespoons a quart of water and you have 32 oz of thick foam. Chug it and you're feeling full. I was already using psyllium husk for this, but the extra volume of foam is a bonus in feeling full. It keeps me from snacking too much at night, IM full, I can't fit anything else. I was using a lot, but I was eating way too much in the evenings after dinner watching TV on worknights. Or coming home late and doing the same thing.

Keys is mixing method
I ordered this product when I was unable to get Citrucel, so used the Pure Methylcellulose (PM) Powder to "extend" my remaining Citrucel powder. I mixed the PM Powder and Citrucel 1:1 by volume, and did the math to determine the necessary volume to get the equivalent fiber given volume of pure Citrucel. I figured the Citrucel may help reduce the clumping while mixing, which it maybe helped slightly, but the effective solution was to first mix into a paste, and then gradually thin with cold water -- the result was actually a pretty smooth solution, and with a decent taste (since still contained some Citrucel). Availability of Citrucel is now back to normal, but I now prefer the PM Powder/Citrucel mix -- far less sugar. Update: Found that it dissolves easily in a small amount of warm water -- then can add cold water. No need to mix initially at paste consistency. Noticed another reviewer discovered the same method.

It is JUNK
It is useless. It doesn't dissolve, set up or perform in any form or manner methyl cellulose is supposed to work. It is white water with chunks

Are you an art teacher?
Are you looking for a replacement for Elmers Art Paste?? This is your replacement!! I mixed it the same ratio in a gallon ice cream bucket. When mixed by hand it takes about 4-5 days to become completely homogeneous (stirring once a day) but if mixed with a blender it’s good after just a few hours of letting the bubbles settle. Doesn’t mold, I have some I mixed up two months ago and is still just the same as day 1.
