THE FUGITIVE... the best its looked and sounded
My reviews of Blu-Ray discs refer to the quality of the sound and vision rather than the content of the film.THE FUGITIVEMovie Release Year: 1993Barcode: 88392933096Picture. For a movie of this vintage (24 years) they have made a fantastic transfer. Not quite as sharp as a blu-ray that we would expect from a film from 2016, but an excellent clean visual presentation. Score 4.5 / 5.0Sound. The disc has DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Great sound. Plenty going on in the surrounds in this one. Score 4.2 / 5.0Another score I include is Repeatability. This is open to personal opinion though. My Score 4.5 / 5.0Equipment used for the above review…Samsung 40” TV……………12 months oldYamaha 7.1 Amplifier………10 Years oldPanasonic Blu-Ray player….9 Years old7 KEF Speakers (Various Models and Age) + Yamaha Subwoofer…25 Years Old.I try to buy the best version of a film, be it Blu-Ray or DVD. Never buy on the release date if l can help it. Do extensive research on any film l may want to buy. Many films have been remastered especially on Blu-Ray but even after that, they may not be much better than the DVD version, so beware. Film companies issue more than one version of a film. Picking the best one by reading reviews is really the only way to guarantee good quality sound & vision for the film you want. Hence the above.Hope this will help with sourcing the right version for when your ready to purchase.Added note…make sure you get the right version of this film on Blu-ray. Check the barcode is same as above and the front cover is mostly white.

Great movies, not so great quality blu ray.
I wanted to upgrade my copies of The Fugitive and its spin off, US Marshalls from DVD to blu ray, but for some annoying reason US Marshalls is not available in the UK. I had considered buying the US import to go along with the UK release of The Fugitive, but then this Nordic release showed up on Amazon with both in one pack.It has been a while since I watched my DVDs, so cannot say for sure what the quality was like on either DVD release, but I am sure it was not so bad that a transfer to blu ray would look this bad.US Marshalls, seems absolutely fine and quality wise is not that bad, but The Fugitive is terrible. The best way I can describe it is "pixelated". Not on the whole picture mind you, but at times, especially on text, the pixelation is incredibly noticeable (also on things like striped shirts).Overall it does not make the film unwatchable, but certainly is not what you would call picture quality worthy of a blu ray release.I cannot say if this is specific to this Nordic version or if all versions suffer the same issues, but be aware when buying any version of this film in case it is the same transfer.

I didn't kill my Wife!!!!
This is a absolute classic, and one of Harrison Fords . Best performances as Dr Richard Kimble, on the run accused of killing his wife Helen and is always. Once step ahead from the Police, he's not gonna stop. Until he gets the killer responsible , so he can clear his name. Tommy Lee Jones also is superb, he always gives a top performance in anything he's in . This is a must for anyone's collection, so iconic to this day and is great viewing. So well acted, face paced , stacks of action . What's not to like about this, get the popcorn out kick back and enjoy.

Finally caught up...
When I first started working at the cinema this was near the end of its run. Therefore, I saw the beginning, bits here and there, but not the whole thing. Since then I've never really watched it, even though I think Harrison Ford is good value. Once again, the other day, it was on TV, but I missed the beginning, so decided that I would buy it and watch it from beginning to end.Well, I'm pleased I did because it is as good as everyone says it is. The thing that struck me most about the movie was how it packed so much information into its just over two hours running time. Director Andrew Davis' use of flashbacks to show what really happened when Kimble's wife was murdered was particularly effective.I don't see much point in going into the plot, but instead a review of the blu ray. When considering my purchase I had read lots of negative reviews of the blu ray, some even suggested sticking with the DVD because its transfer was so poor. Anyway, I decided to purchase this anniversary edition which I can confirm plays on region B blu ray players.I don't really understand or pretend to know the technical aspects of blu ray and high definition, bit rates and all that stuff, only whether it looks good or not on my TV. Compared with some of the other BR's in my collection, this doesn't have the "wow" factor and in places it is a bit soft. I suspect that this wouldn't be good enough for the "picture snobs" as a Curries' representative described them the other day, yet it's certainly satisfactory if you're interested in a story. However, the detail during close-ups was very good so, overall, if you're a big fan of The Fugitive then you'll be satisfied. Having not viewed the DVD I can't really compare, yet I'd find it hard to believe that this transfer is not better. The sound was clear and I wasn't finding myself having to increase the volume to hear little bits of dialogue. It did seem to lack the punch that I remembered it had in the cinema - especially during the bus/train wreck. To be honest, I don't want to be blasted by noise to get the point. I'm more interested in story and character than flash, bang, wallop effects and noise. The extras are interesting, but I'm a sucker for how they make things. Of particular interest to Fugitive fans is an inclusion of a 45-minute pilot episode for a new TV series in 2000 starring Tim Daly as Kimble. It's hard to determine from one show whether the series had legs or not, and they did go on to make further episodes, although the series doesn't appear to be available to purchase. It would have to be particularly good to top the original series with David Janssen that was so popular and the inspiration for the Ford-movie.In conclusion, if you're contemplating buying The Fugitive I'd recommend this release. It's a great film, edge-of-the-seat stuff if you haven't seen it before and a pleasing though unspectacular transfer. I've given it four stars because it doesn't shine like some blu rays, yet it's a very good film and good entertainment. Something that you'll happily watch again.
